WIWT: Inspired by the Oscars!
/ | 14 Comments on WIWT: Inspired by the Oscars! The Oscars are on Sunday night, and I’m one of those people who still really loves to watch them and what everyone is wearing. I decided I wanted to put together an outfit that was as GOLD as possible. ALL THE GOLD. The inspiration for the messy side uni-bun came from an early episode of Pretty Little Liars, before Hanna chopped off her hair. I had been eyeing this dress by The White Pepper for a while, but it went on sale recently, so I decided I had to scoop it up. What I love about the White Pepper is that the clothing I’ve ordered from them so far has been cute, well-made, and extremely comfy, because a lot of it has an easy fit and none of your parts get squished inside. To be honest, the sequins are a little bit scratchy around the arm hole, but I think I could stand it for a few hours to look this sparkly! I’ve had the shoes for a while. I’d been seeing other bloggers with their cute Seychelles, and when the gold shoes went on sale, I was like, here’s my chance! These shoes are super comfy, but even with the platform, they are kinda high and unstable for me, and I feel like I’m about to fall down with each step. I know I should return all the shoes that I think I can’t walk in, but I just like them so much!!! UGH! Just wheel me wherever I need to go and leave me there! You can kind of see my kitty-face tights peeking from underneath the dress, but I kinda forgot to get a good picture of them, because I was mad at them. They actually don’t fit me. I can’t really fit into “one size” tights, because my thighs are too juicy. So these were too small in the thigh, didn’t pull all the way up, and had a weird chemical smell. The whole time, I just thought of them as stinky leg shackles. They were super cheap from eBay, so I don’t consider this a huge loss, just a small bummer. I didn’t end up keeping this outfit on for the day, but I did keep wearing the crown, and it did make me feel extra specially princess-y for the night, and I will definitely cheers to that! **** Dress: On sale at The White Pepper, Shoes: Seychelles Shoes, Head band: Janine Basil, Teddy Bear Necklace: Onch Movement

It 132 pages of people’s photos of their closets and favorite outfits (including me), and q&a’s about their style influences and how they add their own DIY touches. There are also 12 projects inside to help you accent your own wardrobes, including a brand new crochet pattern by me for Frosted Animal Cookie brooches! I am really not great with technology, but you can either purchase a hardcopy from the link above, or you can get on your iPhone or iPad, download the Mollie Makes app for free, and then purchase the DIY Fashion issue inside the app. Have fun! I’ve been looking at the bookazine in my iPhone (I don’t have an iPad), and everything is kinda tiny, but I can tell there is a lot of neat stuff inside. Some of these girls’ houses are AMAZING! I had a really tight deadline for submission, which pretty much meant, I didn’t have time to pick up the house much (doh!), so I took photos outside. My garden is not so green right now, so I ended up next to a wall. Not my 100% ideal for a colorful backdrop, but, you work with what you got!

| 10 Comments on WIWT: Lazy Licorice AllsortsA favorite outfit is always a COMFY outfit. I woke up after 2.5 hours of sleep this morning and just wanted to keep wearing pajamas. The cool thing about a jersey dress and leggings is that they totally DO feel like wearing pajamas! The dress is from the Target girls section and is XL. It didn’t come with a belt, and I just slapped a white one on from another dress. I figured I’d go CRAZY and pair a striped dress with striped leggings. SO CRAZY, YES!?!? The hero-accessory of this outfit, though, is really the watch. You know how I blogged about Swatch’s amazing sweets-themed watches, and I absolutely had to order the one that looked like a candy bracelet! I am completely 100% in love with it. It does have a tiny bit of a candy-raver feel to me, which was never really my personal jam, but overall I just think it’s totally amazing, and I am so happy this watch exists in the world! What do you guys have going on for the weekend? I still need to finish up my piece for the “Sugar High Club” art show and overnight it on Monday. I also have a Mom n Manda ladies lunch on Saturday, and on Sunday I hope to check out the Treasure Island Flea Market! Don’t forget that my February giveaway also ends on Sunday! *** Dress: Target/Circo in the girls section, Leggings: Uniqlo, Shoes: Forever 21, Hair clips: an Etsy seller who no longer exists, Watch: Swatch

I don’t really make a big to-do of Valentine’s Day at home, but I do love to celebrate pink, hearts, and candy! Sourpuss Clothing sent me another super adorable dress to show you guys! It’s their Shaken and Stirred Dress, and it’s the most cutest and comfy thing ever! I usually wear a size M in juniors dresses, but they sent me a Small and fits like a glove and is not too tight. The fabric is pretty stretchy for maximum comfortz! Also check out the tulle/fishnet ruffle peeking out the bottom! I put the dress together with some bright teal wedge booties and sugary sweet tights. I love these shoes a lot, but for some reason, I can’t walk in them at all, so I don’t wear them out! They are just one of those things that I hoard and covet because I couldn’t bring myself to return them. Maybe one day, someone will teach me how to walk in these things without keeling over… The dress has some embroidered retro details, like tiny martini glasses on the shoulders and a big shaker on the skirt. I also unearthed my Giant Dwarf rosette hair fascinator, because the colors went so perfectly! I really love the teal button and the cut-out on the chest because it’s interesting enough that I don’t feel the need to put on a necklace.Sourpuss is currently running a Valentine’s sale until the 17th! Use code ARROW (all caps) for 15% off the whole shop! Thank you, Sourpuss! *** Dress: c/o Sourpuss Clothing, Shoes: Iron Fist, Tights: Celeste Stein, Fascinator: Giant Dwarf

/ | 8 Comments on WIWT: Cozy n Comfy feat. the Pink SamuraiI woke up today wanting to feel 100%c comfy and cozy! So I threw on this sweatshirt dress that I bought from the girls department at Target. I can SOMETIMES fit into the XL there, but I always test first if my arms will fit in the arm holes. This one was a winner. This photo was sort of an accident. I wasn’t quite ready for the timer to go off on my camera, and I sort of spazzed and lept in front of the camera and did THIS. You can see me holding my remote button thingie. Oddly, it’s the only sort-of close-up that I got before my camera ran out of juice! It’s hard to see here, but there’s a sequin detail at the bottom of the dress. Very sweet! The sequins are kinda scratchy, though, so just don’t touch that part of the dress or wear it inside out ….haha. The cowl I’m wearing is from one of my wonderful blog sponsors this month: the Pink Samurai. Her shop is full of all kinds of colorful cozies, and you can also win one of her cowls in my current giveaway. I love outfits that feel like pajamas. Okay, so this one really does kinda look like pajamas, but I still felt cute while running around to the post office and to ImagiKnit. I also met up with Australian blogger/crafter Ruby Velour and her man at the tail end of their U.S. vacation! We had chowder in bread bowls, watched the sea lions at Pier 39 hoot and howl into the night, and had a nice coffee and pie at the Grove. A very productive and relaxing and nice day! Dear iPhone flash: you’re fired. Dress: Cherokee Girls from Target, Leggings: Uniqlo, Boots: Forever21, Necklace: AthinaLaBella, Coat: from Macy’s a few years ago and needs to be retired because it looks like a 50 year old stuffed animal.

/ | 56 Comments on Free Crochet Pattern + WIWT: Bee and PuppyCat!A couple gals on Instagram have been talking about the cartoon Bee and PuppyCat on YouTube, so I had to go see what the hubbub was all about. It is kind of weird, but oddly intriguing. I believe “surreal” is the word that fans use. Created by Natasha Allegri, an artist for Adventure Time, Bee and PuppyCat is about a girl named Bee and her adventures in this world and in an alternate world with her cat/dog/youdontreallyknow PuppyCat. After watching the episode online, I really wanted to put together an outfit inspired by the one that Bee wears! Unfortunately, I didn’t notice until too late that my bee necklace had turned the wrong way, so you can’t really see its cute smile! Oh well! C’est la bee. I get really hot in long-sleeved sweaters, so I opted for a sweater vest. I also liked the idea of making the bee a necklace instead of an applique, so that each piece could be worn with other pieces. I then couldn’t decide if I wanted PuppyCat to be a hair piece or a plush, so I started with a plush! Then I started getting crazy. And then a bit crazier: BATTLEMODE! I think my new goal should be that all my outfit posts will involve really bad animated gifs! Anyway, I wrote down the crocchet pattern for the bee applique/necklace, the bows on my shoes, and….PuppyCat! (Or, just a regular cat, too, whatever you want!) I’ll do more specific photos for the bows in the next few days. I really like how those turned out! / | 18 Comments on WIWT: All Dressed UpSourpuss Clothing strikes again! They sent me their super adorable “Mary Lu” dress, which comes in this pretty teal as well as all black. I love how it is a little bit dressy but still really fun. It fits like a dream and is surprisingly comfortable. There is a side zipper for easy in and out, but there’s also a lot of stretch in the material. The black mesh/lace overlay is not at all itchy, and the whole dress basically feels like you’re wearing pajamas (that’s a good thing!). I tweeted once about having a vintage phone purse, and this seemed like the perfect moment to whip it out! It actually works. There’s a phone cord inside! I used to use it to test the landlines whenever I moved to a new apartment if the real phones hadn’t been unpacked yet. There’s not a lot of room inside, so I don’t actually wear it out as a purse, but it’s just one of those treasures that you can never get rid of! The necklace is by Art School Dropout. I told Jessee that I liked how this necklace looked a bit more “grown up” than most of my jewelry! Haha. It’s really pretty, and I love the little iridescent flecks and glitters all over. I bought the shoes for a wedding that’s coming up next week. I have really wide feet in the front but a narrow heel. I have a duck feet, y’all. So I think I need to buy some kind of insert for the heel so it doesn’t swim around so much! Obligatory twirlyskirt photo! The shot on the right really shows off how the shape and paneling of the dress flatter your waist! There are actually a LOT of dresses on Sourpuss right now that I would love to grab, even some neat Halloweeny ones! There are OFTEN times when I’ll be like, “You’re never buying anything pink or child-like again. You’re almost 40 years old, and you look ridiculous.” And then I’ll see this totally amazing dress with vintage toys all over it that I HAVE TO HAVE. AND WEAR. WITH PRIDE. FOREVER. I have been told by a few naysayers that I should grow up, but who determined what grown-ups are allowed to wear or not? What is a grown-up supposed to look like? Who decided that bunnies and puppies and pastel rainbows were solely the territory of children? I don’t have to go to an office, and I can do what I want, so I should just do what I want and wear what I want! For as long as I can…! I will allow YOU to do the same! 🙂 Obvs, if I decide to go back to the office at some point, my wardrobe may have to revert back to what it once was, but for now, it’s rainbow pompoms, candy jewelry, and crocheting the night away. / | 7 Comments on WIWT: Buddy Edition with Ahoy Miss! Feat. Sourpuss ClothingOh my jeez! H0ld onto your butts! Sourpuss Clothing asked if Ahoy Miss and I would want to shoot photos together in their Shake & Shimmy Dresses in Pink and in Aqua. I was like, “We are buddies, but we still kinda live a couple hundred miles away from each other…!” and Sourpuss was like, “It’s the perfect excuse to get together!” OKAY YOU ARE RIGHT SOURPUSS CLOTHING! SO VERY RIGHT! I was very lucky that she came for visits during Renegade Craft Fair a few weeks ago so we could make this happen! Hairy watched my booth while Danielle and I ran around outside Fort Mason. I am used to shooting photos of myself, by myself, with a remote clicker thingie, and I totally freeze up and get weird when someone else is pointing a camera at me. Danielle’s hubby Jose took all the photos, and he is super duper nice. He said something like, “Just let your individual personalities come through!” So I did this … I emailed Danielle that she was the lady and I was the spazz. Lady and The Spazz. That’s the name of our love story. I have to add that my dress was extremely comfy, flowy, and lightweight. Also I had the dresses crumpled up in a bag at the craft fair, and they didn’t really wrinkle, so they would be really perfect for traveling! My pink version has little black bows, adjustable spaghetti straps, and smocking in the waist for fit and comfort! Her aqua version has a cute peter pan collar, tiny pink buttons down the front, some super cute pink ric-rac-kinda trim, and also that comfy smocking. If you haven’t had enough of us yet, you MUST watch this amazingly funny video that Danielle made! DO IT!!! IT’S AWESOME!! I’m allowed to say that with gusto because I didn’t make it. DO IT!!!!! Also wearing: my trusty necklace by AthinaLabella, my trusty T.U.K. boots from ModCloth, and a pepperoni pizza hair clip by me! (I might add that I may have chosen alternative footwear on any other day, but since I was vending and standing all day at a craft fair and having to take down my booth at the end of the day, comfort was KEY!) We also decided to copy TinyTangerines and pick some other stuff we liked from the Sourpuss website! 1. SOURPUSS PINEAPPLES DOLL BABY DRESS 2. PINKY PINUPS SLEEVELESS STRIPED A LINE DRESS 3. SOURPUSS VARSITY SKULL CARDIGAN PINK 4. PINUP COUTURE LIME WICKER BAGUETTE PURSE 5. COLLECTIF ANNIE BUNNY PINK SWEATER 6. SOURPUSS LIL LAMB BOWLER PURSE 7. T.U.K. PINK BROGUE BOOTS 8. Not only is her work super cute and classy, but she also donates all proceeds to animal rescues. I gave her my measurements, and with some Freckles & Ginger magic, the dress fit like a glove. I will definitely be buying more from this lovely lady! I bought this apple belt from some random thift/vintage shop on Melrose, and it kind of went perfectly with the dress! I also knew immediately that I had to crochet a Very Hungry Caterpillar head piece to go with this outfit. Here is the pattern that I created, so you can make one, too! / | 19 Comments on WIWT: Pajama Glam in RockNRollBride for Crown and GloryI turned 37 today! Dang, right? Dang! Kat from RockNRollBride and Sophie fromCrown and Glory sent me the most amazing head band from their new collection . Primarily designed for alternative brides who crave a little oomph, color, and sparkle in their head wear, these crowns, head bands, and bows are pretty terrific just for everyday, don’tcha think? I’m wearing the Liberace in the bunny ears style! I’m also pretty in love with the Rachel, with all those sweet, tiny, bright flowers. Obviously, my first instinct was to pair my Liberaces with a party frock, and I will probably do that later, but in the moment, in my comfy pink confetti sweater that was $10 on sale from H&M, Pajama Glam feels just about right! Also my hair was not behaving at all today, and sometimes it just wants to do its own thing. Kind of the perfect time to rock something sparkly! Don’t forget to check out the entire collection here!

/ | 11 Comments on How to crochet a Laverne patch for your cardigan + Hot Fabric Glue Experiment: We’re gonna do it OUR WAY, YES, OUR WAY!Wow, today’s post is like a triple whammy!!!! 1) Free crochet pattern 2) Experimenting with a new fabric glue 3) Pimping out 2 cool Etsy shops. Let’s go! So if you couldn’t tell from the blog title, today’s post is all inspired by LAVERNE & SHIRLEY. The younguns may not remember this, but us olduns do! It’s the funniest, goofiest, BFF TV show! Joy from Lucky Cupcake Hair Clips sent me this amazing Laverne & Shirley hair bow, and I scrambled to think of what outfit I could put together to do it any amount of justice. I don’t have a lot of Laverne-y pieces in my closet (YET), so I sort of improvised … by making my own Laverne-inspired cardigan! To create the “L” for my Laverne cardigan, I used Norma Lynn’s “Love in Cursive” crochet pattern for inspiration. You should grab her pattern to spell out the whole word! Here’s what I busted out for the Laverne “L” : ch 71, sk 1st ch, 2 sc, (2 sc), 10 sc, (2 sc), 2 sc, (2 sc), 2 sc, (2 sc), 18 sc, sc3tog, 2 sc, sc3tog, 2 sc, sc3tog, 2 sc, sc3tog, 10 sc, (2 sc), 3 sc. Then, I experimented with Surebonder Fabric Stix: hot glue for fabric! That’s flexible! And washable! I can’t vouch yet for how it washes. Only time will tell. I was just excited to try this out. It kinda stinks that it’s white and not clear, but for this project, it was fine. It also, kind of literally stinks. It’s a bit smellier than regular hot glue, so you might want to pop open a window if you’re afraid of chemical smells. It’s no way near as bad as E6000, though. Ultimately, I think that hot fabric glue is an easy solution for some quick embellishments, but since it’s GLUE, it is kinda bulky and not as delicate as hand-sewing. Here’s an action-packed video I made while using the Fabric Stix for the first time! I would say that it is certainly a quick n convenient way to glue stuff to other stuff, but I felt like I was being too messy with it, and it was kinda stringy, and……..it’s WHITE. So, there are some definite down sounds to working with it. I’m interested in how it would hold up to gluing bows to jeans and stuff like that. More experimentation later!

/ | 5 Comments on Hiking in Big Sur and Pfeiffer Beach! THE MAJESTY OF NATURE.I hope you guys get to have fun adventures this weekend! Last weekend, Hairy and I drove down to Big Sur. Big Sur is neat cuz it’s like a bunch of different environments all smashed together…. grassland, forest, and beach. I am not really a nature/camping kinda gal, because I hate sweating, bugs, and getting dirty, but I’m game to hang out in nature for an hour or two. I made a video of our journey, so you can come with us on our hike! So this is basically the outfit I consider my sporty/hiking outfit. I tried on a bunch of my shorts, and it’s like … my thighs are SO JUICY that they don’t really fit in any shorts!? WTH? Where do juicy gals buy their shorts?! These red ones are from Victoria’s Secret. My very sporty muscle shirt is from Urban Outfitters. I told Hairy that in this outfit, nobody would invite me deer-hunting, which, is a good thing anyway. Pfeiffer Beach is really beautiful, but if you watch the video, you will see why the sign says, “VERY WINDY. NO REFUNDS.” Ok, bye! Go somewhere outside this weekend and smell some fresh air and inhale some tiny bugs and stuff. Love you guys!

I have never really worn cat/mouse/bunny ears before, and while I think it is a really fun look, I’m not sure it would be my go-to? Maybe with less other stuff! This is kind of a fake WIWT. It’s more of a “What I Tried On Today To See What It Looks Like and to Play with Some of My Stuff.” I am getting old and cellulite-y, and bare legs really aren’t on the agenda for me, but I can pretend in a photo! This floral collar is pretty amazing. The flowers are made of PAPER. YUK Clothing is a new brand by my buddy Kate in the UK. I’m not sure if it’s still secret or not, but I know who is designing some YUK tshirts, and it’s gonna be amazing. Can’t wait to see more! I put my YUK brooch on a purse by Spank! These sparkly ears came in my goodiebag from Blogcademy LA a few weeks ago. I need to blog separately about that! Okay, let’s talk about the shoes. Sorry they are chopped off in so many of my photos. I can never master how to properly take an outfit photo inside a room with limited space. I need to lower the camera so there’s less room above my head and more room under my feets! Anyway! The shoes are Hello Kitty flats, and they are the first thing I ever bought off Fab.com after my brother showed them to me. I love them! I can’t remember how I came across her blog for the first time, but I instantly fell in lurve with her cute, girlie style, and her commitment to creating DIY tutorials for maximizing the cuteness and prettiness of life on a budget. To be honest, I’m pretty sure I totally fangirled over her on Twitter, and the rest is history. Apparently we both got the memo that it was White Cardigan Day. And p.s. she made her dress!! Here are some examples of her tutorials: how to sew cute overall shorts, poufy curly up-do hairstyle, how to make cardigan clips. I tried to take a few outfit snaps in the hotel before our meet-up, but the light was really dark in our room. Afterward, Hairy and I wandered about Melbourne a bit more and ended up in the library, upon Bei’s recommendation. But it was Sunday and filled with students doing actual studying, and we felt kinda bad just poking around! There was a gallery filled with portraits and busts of random old guys, so I thought it would be another fun opportunity for an iPhone outfit snap! That night, we walked down to by the river and ate dinner at Guiseppe Arnaldo & Sons trattoria inside the Crowne Hotel, and everything was super duper yummy! Especially the chocolate pot de creme for dessert!

| 5 Comments on WIWT: Polka Dot Zebra Farm HandHere is the outfit I (sorta) wore yesterday to shoot the jelly bean scarf. I ended up putting on black leggings and my trusty black cowboy boots because I forgot that I hadn’t shaved my legs and couldn’t leave the house in knee-highs! I also failed to notice that the little flappy thing on top of the bib of the overalls kept sticking out. I am proud to continue my tradition of worst outfit-blogger ever. I have been really obsessed with getting an overalls-skirt for a while now. I’ve been window shopping on Etsy, but I never find anything that I like that will fit my hips. I have a pair of stripey Osh Kosh overalls that I want to turn into a skirt, but, obviously, that project hasn’t happened yet. So when I saw these overalls on Urban Outfitters, I just kinda went for it. It’s a super easy DIY if you already have overalls, but sometimes I just gotta take it easy on myself with timesuck vs DIY and just buy the darn things. AND I LOVE THEM! | 10 Comments on Hello Kitty Forever!Have you guys already checked out the Hello Kitty Forever collection at Forever21? I’m so thrilled that my buddy Onch designed the jewelry for it. His signature piece is a colorful pretzel necklace, so this pretzel-Sanrio-mash-up necklace is super awesome! I think most of the jewelry is already sold out, but you should check it all out at F21 anyway, or you might also have better luck visiting your local store. Aside from the above bow sweater, I also got this Hello Kitty sweater. What I really liked about the collection was the color palette. It was bright and springy and cheery, which I really welcome when most of what you get in the winter are blacks and grays maybe some jewel tones. All the sweaters are soft and comfy! I’m wearing a size Medium. I get hot really easily, so I don’t know why I bought so many sweaters, but I really couldn’t help it. They were so cute! It would be neat if I knew how to convert all of them to short sleeves! Here’s another one I got! Not part of the Hello Kitty Forever collection, but I couldn’t resist the lavender and the pearls. Only problem is that it kinda rides up high on me, so I’d have to remember to wear something longer underneath. Not sure if I’ll keep it yet or not. I also snagged these super cute pink tights with pink hearts! Finally, I also got this hearts shirt with bows on the back. It really shows off my foodbaby, so part of me wants to return it, but it’s just so cute! Time to start exercising! I also got these cropped purple pants, but they fit me so weird! They squeeze my thigh fat so it looks super bad when I sit, but they are still kinda loose in the waist. I don’t think of myself as a really curvy person, but pants hardly ever fit me the right way cuz they’ll be tight in the hip/thigh and loose in the waist. Don’t get me started on skinny jeans. I can’t even fit my calves into most of them. My foot won’t come out the bottom! Anyhoo, it was fun trying on my new duds! Time to go back to work!

He is not big on the dressing up, especially in SHORTS, but, I told him, IT WAS HAPPENING. Oddly enough, he didn’t put up much of a fight, and he actually helped make his own costume, and was also oddly in good spirits while wearing it. Win! / | 7 Comments on WIWT: Pink Heart Ho DownI kind of panicked on this outfit today. I needed to take a photo in my craft room for another craft-room tour feature on a friend’s blog. But it was one of those days where I threw my hands up in the air over what clothes to put on. You win some, you lose some. You may recognize the top. It’s the same print as my tote bags, which I am still waiting for Hairy to re-print in pink. I tried out this allegedly slouchy shirt, but it was really small on me and already a size large, so I stopped considering selling these until I find shirts that I like and would wear myself. I didn’t even end up keeping this outfit on. At least I liked my hair today! Hehe. Shirt: by me. Shorts: Drop Dead Clothing. Boots: ModCloth. Head band: by me. I’m starting my planning for Renegade Holiday market. I never know what to bring. People will buy different things all the time at various shows, so it’s hard for me to predict the right inventory. Which means I end up trying to bring everything and stressing out! We’ve also been working on some last minute Halloween costumes. I haven’t had Halloween plans for years. I got a Facebook invite to an art show opening/Halloween party for Friday night, so we started to frantically plan costumes in less than a week. It’s shaping up rather well, I’d say. Although, I don’t think I’ll be able to try the whole thing on until the day of. Fingers crossed! Here’s a hint. It will be very obvious to some people, and completely nonsensical to others! Yep, that’s Hairy in the craft room, getting his craft on. He kept saying he didn’t know what he was doing, and I’m told him to just do it. I’d be a great mom/teacher, right? “Uh, shut up and just DO IT!” And yep, that’s a contract/release thingie that his patch is sitting on. I hope to announce that news soon!

/ | 11 Comments on WIWT: We Match The Pumpkin Patch(Hair clips and stripey glove: my Etsy shop, Dress: Katastrophic Design (worn before in my Final Frontier post), Boots: ModCloth, Cardigan: Target) I haven’t been to a pumpkin patch in years. I kept begging Manda to go with me this year and wear our pumpkin/Halloween gear, and Sunday was the day! I’m lucky enough to live nearly next door to this pumpkin patch, and it has tons of pumpkins, a bouncy castle, a bouncy slide, and even a little train that departs every 10 minutes. I thought we would kind of hop in and out of there and then go costume shopping, but we ended up spending over an hour picking our most favorite pumpkins, me trying to talk Manda into buying a giant humongous pumpkin, Manda trying to talk me out of carving and sticking my head in said giant pumpkin like the headless horseman. (I don’t know much about Manda’s outfit except her hat and mitts are from my Etsy shop, and her jacket is Material Girl.) We got quite the response at the patch and were told we were really prepared! I came home with one small pumpkin and two baby pumpkins, and Manda bougnt like a kabillion pumpkins (but not the one big giant one!). You will see more of our pumpkin shopping in a short video that I will post soon!

/ | 21 Comments on WIWT: My First Cowboy BootsIn the late 90s, I noticed some of the SF hipster girls wearing their cowboy boots ironically, and I told myself I would never -EVER- have cowboy boots. Never say never. When I saw these babies with hearts on them on Modcloth, I had some serious “Should I or shouldn’t I?” conversation with myself. It is clear now which side won. They are by T.U.K. which I usually can’t wear because I’ve always been between the 7 and the 8. But I read on the ModCloth reviews that they ran large, so I ordered the 7 and they fit absolutely perfectly! The heel is a bit clickety-clackety and even my dad commented that my shoes were loud, but aside from that, I kind of love them. Boots: T.U.K. from ModCloth, Dress: a boutique in L.A. on Sawtelle I can’t remember the name of, Shirt: you can’t see but is So So Happy.

/ | 43 Comments on My Garden Tea PartyWhen Mollie Makes asked if I would send some extra photos of my work for Issue 18 along with a photo of myself for the contributors page, I decided to throw together an impromptu secret garden party in my back yard. It was so secret, that I was the only one there! I also always wanted to see if I could make one of these composite collage thingies. I have no idea how you are supposed to make them. I basically just shot a bunch of photos of myself around the table and then cut/pasted them together. It’s not perfect, and you can see some seams if you look closely, but it was just for fun, and I thought it turned out pretty cool!

/ | 10 Comments on Darling Stewie Stickers Galore!I took some photos the other day for my pal Darling Stewie. Her Etsy shop is Word To Your Unicorn, and she describes it as “Your source for god damned delightful whimsy! At Word to your Unicorn, you’ll find the kawaii, the geeky, and the super adorable.” I’ve been feeling a bit dumpy lately, so it was nice to have an excuse to clean up a little bit! Plus, I found out, I look great with a moustache! Rawr!! Here are a few shots with her stickers: The melty bow is by Sparkle Galaxy, the dress is from Target girls’ section (XL!), and my trusty necklace is Cicely Margo.

| 9 Comments on WIWT: If I’m Wearing Leggings as Pants, I’m Probably ill.I don’t know what it is about me and leggings. I loved them from 3rd grade all the way to 9th grade (“Ummmm, have you ever thought about buying a pair of jeans?” – girl to me in 7th grade). But now, if I wear them, I feel like I’m in sweatpants and look super bad. Like it would be barely ok to go to the grocery store in them, but not like, out with my girlfriends or whatever. Anyway, I am still trying to ditch my cold, and I had to do laundry. Since I did not want to do laundry, I put on the leggings! Here’s my Sick Girl Secret: underneath, I’m wearing the tshirt I’ve slept in for the past 3 nights because I didn’t feel like changing out of it today. You’re welcome! Happy Face Sweater: Lazy Oaf (appropriate!), Kitty Leggings: Pretty Snake, Big Giant Black Socks: Sock Dreams, Shoes: Demonia Sprites.
