WIWT: Birthday Edition!
| 47 Comments on WIWT: Birthday Edition!Yup, it’s my birthday today! I am 36. Holy cucamonga. I had a really fun slumber party with Manda & Renee (who was visiting from Miami and whom I lived with like 10 years ago) and we ate 20 pounds of pizza and had every dessert known to man. I didn’t think I would actually do anything today for my bday, but Manda said we should, so we are going to dinner! I normally wouldn’t have dressed in any kind of birthday fashion, but I also had to FINALLY shoot photos of leftover Renegade stock to post on Etsy, so I figured I would clean up a little bit and get that done! So tonight, after dinner, I will edit those photos and update the shop! YAY! Presents for everybody! 😀 Dress & Star Tights: I’m Your Present, Belt: from eBay, Shoes: NastyGal x Jeffrey Campbell, Hair Balloons: cupcake toppers from Etsy

| 13 Comments on WIWT: Pink Tights & Polka HeartsLast night, we went to dinner with my family at Wayfare Tavern to celebrate mine and my brother’s birthdays. His was about a week ago and mine is in about a week. Summer babies! I wore a polka heart shirt dress from F21, pink tights from We Love Colors, NastyGal x Jeffrey Campbell shoes, and my trusty Cicely Margo necklace. There has been a long-standing inside joke (that I don’t know that I am really inside of!) about my brother turning 30 and having a party where everyone wears pink. There’s something about how Asian men aren’t allowed to wear pink shirts until they are 30? I dunno! I went with it and also wrapped his present in hot pink wrapping paper. Looks grown-up, right? The awesome writing on top were hints about the presents. Someone also asked about how I did my hair. Whenever I “do” my hair, it’s a big experiment/accident. I am no hair guru. I just shove clips here and pins there and curl this and that and hope for the best. I started by putting up the top/sides of my hair with those claw clip thingies (watch out, it’s getting technical up in here!). I teased the crown and then shoved the rest of my hair to the side and secured it with another claw clip thingie, like a faux low pony tail (fo-lo, what!). Then I took maybe a third of that pony tail near my face and curled it up into a bun thing and secured it with 3 bobby bins. Then I curled the rest of the pony tail and also my bangs and some wispy pieces near my face. Done! Here’s the remains of my dessert. It was called “Summer Fare,” and it was a fancy funnel cake with red licorice gel, popcorn ice cream, and liquid caramel corn. It sounds kind of nasty, but it tasted really good. Nothing was overly licorice-y or corn-y. Delish! Here’s a shot from my brother’s bday dinner with all his friends where everybody wore pink. This was the night after the first day of Renegade Craft Fair when I had had no sleep. I was basically falling asleep at the table. Doh! At least I opened my eyes for some snaps! At last night’s dinner, my mom said that the one thing she wanted for us was that we love each other, so she was very happy. I think I made a yuck-face at that sentiment because I am not good with mushy stuff, but it was really sweet, and yes, I am cool with my bro. When he was little, I used to want a little sister instead. I used to dress him up as a girl, and we called this character Bumpy. Bumpy liked to wear purple and head scarves. Bumpy did not live long because this disturbed my parents, but my little bro was always a good sport!

/ | 12 Comments on WIWT: 5 Minute MessI have been flying back and forth between my house and my parents’ house and not really planning outfits at all. I went to the J-Pop Explosion art show opening tonight and wanted to put a little more effort into my outfit than tshirt and jeans, but I was in a real rush and had no idea what the heck I was doing. Hence, this: Obviously, there is NO RHYME OR REASON to any of this!!! I don’t know what I was thinking! First I picked the dress. It’s cheery orange with cute carousel horses on it and my beloved peter pan collar, from ModCloth. Then came the shoes, NastyGal x Jeffrey Campbell, which you can’t even see anyway. Then my hair felt very unadorned, so I slapped my YumYums coin-purse/hair clips onto my head. DONE. YIKES!

| 17 Comments on WIWT: I wanna wear your bedsheets. This is my new favorite dress. My new favorite thing for summer is to buy DIY dresses from Etsy made of vintage sheets. You might see this dress a lot. I wanna wear it EVERYDAY!!! Even though the bust part is really bubbly and weird. OH WELL. I wore this outfit to have lunch with Vivs a few weeks ago at the Ferry Building. It was the first time we had hung out outside of craft fairs. I heart her! Fun Fact: I have a really ginormous phobia of my dress getting stuck to my butt and revealing my underwear. I often wear bloomers underneath my dresses. Here’s an EXTREME CLOSE-UP to show the cute Little Miss Delicious necklace I adore. (p.s. I always wondered if polymer clay jewelry could survive the shower. This one can. Bonus for lazy people like me.) Deets: Dress: ShopEBV on Etsy // Necklace: Little Miss Delicious // Tights: Pamela Mann on eBay (p.s. I already busted a hole in mine by jamming my thumbs in too deep while putting them on at a later time. I’m a brute!) // Shoes: Doc Martens

| 9 Comments on WIWT: My Christmas Outfit!(click for larger) I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We had way too much food! We also had a turducken for the first time, and I’ll make a separate post for all the food! I didn’t get the chance to decorate the house as much as I wanted :(, but hopefully next year I’ll have more time to make the house a Christmas wonderland. I did accomplish two small Christmas goals though: bake cookies using the cookie press, and crochet my own stocking (I’ll put a photo of that in my Christmas tree post). Here’s a quick snap of my outfit! Dress by I’m Your Present, Necklace by Onch Movement, Cardigan from Target, teddy bear slippers from Hong Kong, giant ribbon bow in hair from Target! I wore my slippers all day. It was pretty awesome. Here’s a close up of the necklace. It’s super soft! You can just pet them all day.

| 15 Comments on All Aboard!Tiffany and Daniel invited us to party that they and their friends were throwing on the S. S. Jeremiah O’Brien on Saturday night. We got there REALLY late, because Hairy had to work at the gallery, and Manda and I still had to put together some kind of costume to wear, sewing on buttons and cutting out collars at the last minute. Everything turned out fine, and we had so much fun trying to take a million pictures during the last hour of the party! Costumes: success! Except, for some reason, my nylons were REALLY SHINY. Here are my fav photos: Tiff made her own mermaid costume! I’m sad Hairy didn’t get the bottom of her costume with the mermaid tail! That’s us trying to mimic some mannequins at F21 we saw earlier that day! Outfits: (we tried to buy pieces that would be usable even after Halloween) $5 sailor hats from some shop online that we sewed golden bows and buttons to. Dresses: H&M, and we added gold buttons from JoAnn Fabrics Coats: Converse All Star from Target Collars: pieces of fabric cut out about 5 minutes before we left the house Here’s a video of us exploring the ship! And I’ll put the rest of the photos behind a cut!

| 12 Comments on WIWT: First Date DressMy aunt was in town for a few weeks, and we all went to eat fancy foods at Gary Danko. I wanted to get a few quick outfit snaps, but I also didn’t want us to run too late, since we were also going to visit Chrissa at her launch party/press conference for her new gig as a VJ for MNET. We were only able to say hi super quick before heading off to dinner, but it was at least nice to say hi to her and Tess and Amy for 2 minutes! Chrissa was too busy being an event hostess to be in this photo :P. The dress I’m wearing is part of Elsie’s collection for Red Velvet. She asked Twitter to help her name the dress, and she went with my suggestion: The First Date!! Then I felt like an idiot, because she had already named another dress in the collection the Library Date dress, but she said, “It’s ok. I really like dates!” She’s the cutest. The tights are from Celeste Stein. The variety of prints for tights is amazing!! But I think the fit of the tights is a little less amazing….. they get super saggy and loose super quickly. Necklace: Cicely Margo. Bunny purse: Rakuten.

| 27 Comments on WIWT: The Cake HatOn Saturday, we met up with Mars, Josh, Tiffany, and Daniel, and had brunch at The Elite Cafe. You gotta love a place where mini donut holes are on the starter menu! Then we all made our way over to Japan Town to check out the J-Pop Summit. Miss Alphabet and Locketship had booths right next to each other, which made for convenient shopping and hang outs! Check out Zambi’s blog entry for better details about the booths!! I didn’t take any photos! I wish I had a photo of me and Amy and her friend Josh, since he was wearing gigantic platform boots which made him 7 feet tall and made us feel teeny tiny! Anyway, today I wore my purchases from that day: a cakey hat by Locketship and a cute top from Miss Alphabet! Too bad you can’t tell from the photos really that the cake plate is sparkly, and so is the lavender fabric on the shirt! Last night while watching Bachelor Pad, I painted my nails! Because I got obsessed, I totally ordered this OPI UK exclusive color I Pink I Love You from some UK website, and the package ended up shipping from Belgium. Fancy! (A polish with the same name was released here in the U.S., but it’s a pale baby pink.) Then I decided to pile a bunch more crap into my hair. This hat/headband is the most amazing accessory ever. Only downside: it’s mounted on a child’s head band, and I have the biggest head on the planet. I can wear the headband for maybe 2 hours and then it’s brain explosion time!!! Oh well! WORTH IT.

| 11 Comments on WIWT: One Woman ArmyEarlier this week, I was in Dallas for Yummy You meetings. We’ve been laying low a bit, working on making things bigger and better, so thanks everyone for your patience, and fingers crossed for more Yummy You this holiday season! So much has happened with Yummy You this year that I should probably never talk about, but it’s been an interesting journey in trusting your gut and doing your best to build a good team. I wish I could show you the things I saw in my meetings. There’s going to be so much fun stuff!! Stuff I can’t wait to have myself! Wheeee! Hairy got me this tshirt that says One Woman Army. It really feels that way sometimes, but then I remember I do have a great support system around me. There are days when I feel like nobody can do their job right, but I trust that all the hard work and anxiety will pay off in the end. In good news, I might be getting an intern! Thanks everyone for the bday wishes!! Again, it was a very low key bday. The BFF and I didn’t even take pictures at the amusement park. We decided we were definitely too old for roller coasters. I felt like I was getting beat up in the head by a gang. Plus, the funnel cakes don’t even taste good anymore. It was like cat food squished into a circular patty. Only Disneyland for me from now on! We had fun, though, as only besties can. Last night, the BFF held a small sewing class for me and her roommie and we got takeout for dinner. It was the first I ever sewed anything on a machine. We sewed on paper to learn! It was exciting and scary. You just kinda had to be ok with making mistakes. Shirt: Kweenz Destroy, Tights: Celeste Stein, Shorts: True Religion, Socks: Don’t remember! Bought them in Vegas, Belt: from the Bettie Page shop on Haight, Hair bow: Puppy Cat Meow, Star brooch: Pizzicato Kei, Necklace: AthinaLaBella

Today’s hair experiment was a messy low side bun with lots of hair doodads to hide the fact that I don’t have a lot of luscious long hairz. This would probably also look cute with a ton of flowers instead of bows. For my Tumblr buds, I can’t figure out why the heck this won’t post as an animated gif over there?! Frustrating! I took a pic of the front just cuz it seemed weird to only show the back! HAhah. One of those lazy tshirt and jeans days :). I have been finishing up a bunch of custom orders. Check out the lemon cozy that went out today!

| 21 Comments on WIWT: Pink, Ruffles, & Unicorns. EW!(click for bigger) I almost put jeans on again today. Then I tried a little harder. It seemed too cold for tights, so I opted for leggings, then since I was wearing leggings, I decided to cover my butt with a skirt, then I decided to sort of match the girliness of the skirt with a unicorn tshirt, and then I felt too girlie girl so I put on Doc Martens. I wore the earrings for fun, but due to laziness I haven’t worn an earring in my right ear for ever, so it was really sore, and I took the earrings off after the photos. Earlier, I’d tried to put my hair up on a top knot, but it’s kind of tricky since I find it’s pretty easy to see the beads/bonds that hold my weave on, and nobody wants to see that! It’s kinda disturbing, like seeing the holes that doll hair comes out of. I’ll have to keep experimenting. Last night was the first time I washed my hair with the extensions in. These things take FOREVER to dry. I have to remember to shower earlier on hair-wash days, since you’re supposed to try to let it air dry as often as possible. Today, I ran a bunch of errands, stocked up on yarn to make berry pie tissue cozies (sorry about the delay on posting those to Etsy…I’m still ironing out some kinks in the pattern so that it can be produced more efficiently i.e. not as expensively), and hung out at the art opening at Hairy’s gallery, and ate dinner at Luna Park. I have to go to Las Vegas next week for the big licensing show where I’ll be taking a bunch of meetings, so I have to try to update YummyYouClothing.com and also make sketches and notes for my meetings before the weekend is out. I wandered around Joanne’s today, feeling very inspired, with lots of new ideas for some exciting stuff. We’ll see how these meetings shake out! So my Etsy update probably won’t happen until the following week. Sorry about that!! But the Vegas trip is the last travel I have planned until August, I think… soo… phew! | 13 Comments on WIWT: Pink N Purple PrintsI’m still working on the Etsy update. My internet connection has been really bad the last few days, so things are sort of stop and go! This morning when I woke up, I had to remind myself that I own clothing beyond tshirts and jeans. I just bought this cute dress from I’m Your Present and figured it was as good a time as any to wear it around the house. Bloggers like Elsie and Kaylah post such fun outfit photos that it kind of inspires me to play more with different colors and put different prints together. The tights are a bit loud for me, I think. I feel a bit too thigh-y in this get up. But it was fun to prance around in it a little bit at least for a photo! My urge is to put some freakin pants on! Sorry I don’t have much outfit info. I can’t even remember where I got the tights! 😛 I added the bow from another dress by Marjour.

| 9 Comments on Sugar RushI shot some photos of this red sequin bow for Sugar Rush Couture on Etsy. Check out her cute shop for hair bows! I wore it with two of my own hair pieces: a pink crochet bow with pom poms, and the piece I lovingly refer to as a boobie cake, which was inspired by a raspberry cake! I added some glittery red icing swirls to try to make it look less breasty. I am bringing a TON of fun hair clips to Renegade Austin next weekend. EEP! I’m nervous and kind of a wreck about the logistics of it! The dress is I’m Your Present. It’s a bit big on me, but makes me feel like a princess! Also I’m trying out a Sephora cream lip stain. I’m not used to wearing such a dark lip, so I probably wouldn’t wear this a lot in real life, but it’s a nice change or photos! Have a great weekend! We are driving down to L.A. for a fun little project. I’ll tell ya all about it when it’s done!

| 13 Comments on WIWT: Little Monster, plus, Etsy update!Okay, I have not watched very much Yo Gabba Gabba at ALL, but I think I belong on the show, RIGHT?! I picked up this comfy baggy monster sweater from Lazy Oaf when I was in London. It was kind of this rigmarole because apparently the U.S. and Spain are some of the few countries who still use swipe credit cards. Everyone else uses credit cards with little microchip thingies in them. So it was like none of the girls at the shop knew how to conduct the transaction with my stupid American swipe card!!! Thankfully, they worked it out! The leggings were a gift from my buddy Marissa. I heart that they actually have room for a butt in them, and they don’t fall down! The polka dots are shiny metallic silver! I still don’t know how I feel about me in baggy tops and leggings. It’s comfy, but I feel really sloppy and not really “me.” But jeans everyday are so boring, so I think I will still try out mixing it up a bit! I also added a few new items to my Etsy shop. Pancake scarves, a strawberry scarf, and some super cute cupcake coffee cup cozies with new strawberry toppers! Sorry the update is so tiny, but we are hard at work building stock for Renegade Austin (May 21-22) and also Yummy You factory samples. I know I don’t talk about it much, cuz I don’t really know how to approach it, but there has obviously been a little break in Yummy You news. We are re-grouping, learning from last year, and building an awesome and stronger team. Bigger things on the horizon!! Wait till you see what happens!! This is all a new experience for me, and it will take some time to iron out all the kinks, but I so appreciate everyone following along and supporting me on this adventure!

| 15 Comments on WIWT: Pastel EggsplosionLast night, Hairy, my mom and I went to the DeYoung Museum to support and vote for Manda’s outfit she designed and made with a fellow student for Discarded to Divine. There was a huge long line, and by the time we got close, they ran out of ballots and we couldn’t vote on the People’s Choice Awards! Bummer! Afterwards, we all and ate a giant Korean feast and ended the night with a coconut milk tea and an eggpuff. Perfecto! I had planned to wear my new tights that night, but while walking the dogs, I realized that the tights not only started to fall down, but were also taking my undies down with them!!! Lots of awkward underwear picking and tights-hiking occurred. So those tights are now in the donate pile! I then opted to try some mint green tights I’d never worn, and my entire outfit felt inspired by my pastel fingernails! Later I threw on a cardigan from H&M that matched the tights perfectly, but I hadn’t picked that out yet before snapping the photos! Dress: Reko from TopShop London, Tights: We Love Colors (I buy the plus size!!!), Custom necklace: athinalabella, Hair doodads: petit fours by me! bow by 6%dokidoki, candy bonbon from CutieDynamite, Shoes, super old Aldos! Since I’m still house-sitting, I don’t have my good camera here, so I tried taking a few snaps with Photobooth, which turned out lame and pixelled and stupid. You never like anything BUYEEEEETTTT!!!” Doesn’t he see all the boxes and packages coming to the house all the time with clothes inside of them? I’m Twinkie Chan and I’m a shopaholic! I bought this dress in the basement of TopShop in London. I had no idea the basement housed a myriad of “concessions” or racks and racks of various different brands. I loved it down there! We were in kind of a rush, plus I don’t like to spend lots of time shopping around Hairy, so I made a quick dash around the place and picked up three dresses. I’m sure the other two will appear very soon! The boots I bought before the trip. I thought it was going to be cold, so I wanted to pack for cold weather! I had been on the lookout all winter for a pair of boots I could wear with dresses and also under jeans. I didn’t want a pointy toe or a pointy heel… I wanted it to be cute and girlie but not lolita. Needless to say, I have yet to find the perfect boot! So I went with some good ol’ Doc Martens in black patent. As it turned out, it was quite warm in Dublin and London! Warmer than SF! We were very lucky. I just sweat a lot more than I’d planned 😛 Now that we are home, it is actually super duper hot in SF, even here in the dreary Sunset by the ocean! I actually feel a bit too naked in this outfit. I am not in the habit of showing my knees. I have a complex about my knees and thighs being gigantic and hideous, so we’ll see if I actually make it out of the house without sticking my trusty jeans underneath! Holy flashbacks! I was actually made fun of for not wearing jeans like everybody else, but I thought jeans were really uncomfortable and weird, and I would much rather show up to school in what would pass for pajamas. These days, I live in my jeans, so it has been comfy but strange to run around in leggings today without a dress or a pair of shorts over them! Also, I have ALWAYS been anti-Uggs, espesh when girls wear them with a mini skirt or Daisy Dukes. That just makes no sense to me. However, when I saw this polka dot pair, I had couldn’t resist. I don’t wear them out of the house, though. They’re my House Fuggs, and they keep my feet warmz when socks don’t cut it. | 22 Comments on Babydolls n PuffsleevesWhen I shop on Etsy, there are a couple of keywords I always fall back on: puff sleeve peter pan collar babydoll dress space mod (also for fun house stuff!) So I received my latest Etsy dress from meetmeinmontauk. I love it! Groovy citrus colors , puff sleeve, cotton and not polyester. I’m in babydoll bliss! Except the back zipper doesn’t have one of those claspy things on top so the zipper keeps falling down! I gotta fix that somehow. Also I am boring and always wear my jeans under my dresses these days. No colorful tights or fancy shoes. I still am not convinced that tights are just as warm as jeans. I would like to be convinced, as I think tights are cuter, but I don’t wanna freeze my beans off. Also today I did the The Bar Method exercise dvd, which is supposed to “integrate the fat burning format of interval training, the muscle shaping technique of isometrics, the elongating principles of dance conditioning, and the science of physical therapy to create a revolutionary new workout that quickly and safely reshapes your entire body.” My thoughts: For people whose excuse is that they don’t have time to work out…this is kind of a long DVD. Almost an hour if you do the whole thing, including the warm up. If you are looking for some cardio and some sweat, this is not for you. If you are looking to squeeze your butt a lot, this is definitely for you! My triceps and my thighs feel pretty worked out, but I didn’t get that over all feeling of satisfaction from this, whereas after I do a Carmen Electra DVD, I feel like I got run over by a bus. So I guess the Bar Method might be good for “body sculpting,” but to get some of this jiggle off my wiggle, I would definitely want to do more regular cardio, too, at the gym. But since this is only the first day I’ve tried the Bar Method, who knows yet!

But I really love all the pieces I ordered (including that that strawberry Yum Yums top.) This ice cream dress doesn’t fit me exactly right. It’s a bit big in the bust/armpit area, plus it is WAY too short for me to wear as a dress. I have it on over jeans. But it is so happy and delightful!!! The bows/pearls are pins so you can put them wherever you want. You can’t really see my other accessories in these but my sprinkles necklace is Stoopidgerl and my hair bows are 6%dokidoki.
