Sleeping In.

Sometimes I like to marvel at how sucky my drawing skills are, but it’s still very helpful to me as I lay out new projects and make certain decisions. We went to Whole Foods the other night to buy vitamins and supplements for the dogs (haha and not for us!) and I also got a box of these: At first I wasn’t sure about them, but now I can’t stop eating them! The green tea flavor is very subtle, so don’t be afraid. I’ve almost eaten the whole box! On Saturday night, Hairy and I went to Cabaret Lunatique not knowing what to expect. We ate a delightful cheese plate, had a drink, and enjoyed the show. Even though I am not a super burlesque/vaudeville kinda gal, I did think it was a good amount of entertainment for $20. I told Hairy that of all the people we knew, that we were kinda the last people to end up at a show like this, and the he said it was like a Nick and Norah moment, and that we should just pretend we ended up there on accident. Also our light kit arrived, and Hairy has been experimenting with them. I have been a bit lazy/unmotivated/intimidated about playing with them myself, but I plan to during the week. We got continuous fluorescent lighting, which I know sounds kind of weird, but there were many factors about it that I liked, so I hope it doesn’t turn out too weird lookin! I woke up rather late both on Saturday and today, and then I get depressed about wasting the day, so I hope this week revs up a bit! I have a lot of fun stuff planned. A Halloween surprise, a Thanksgiving surprise, and other random new things. ‘Kay, back to eating cookies and making cupcake scarves! xx

Pink, Blue, and MOOOOO!

| 1 Comment on Pink, Blue, and MOOOOO!

I just got my first set of Moo cards today. I love that you can pick a different image for all 50 cards. That’s pretty cool! Here is a small sample. They all have the same bright blue back with my infos on it. I kind of love them, and the card stock is nice and thick, tho I don’t know that I’d use them as my regular business card. I got my first batch of new biz cards the other day….and….I kinda screwed up the color. It’s all washed out and too light. I’m trying again! Today I got my hair done for free, because I’m helping with a photo shoot for my salon on Sunday. She used two different pinks in my hair, Atomic Pink, and some other pastel pink that I had in my hair before for my bro’s wedding. I really like the two different shades in there, and my photo doesn’t really capture it so great, but oh well! While I was buying hairspray the other day (Bedhead Hard Head) I also saw some blue nail polish by Orly. It’s called “Blue Collar” and it’s totally like my favorite Sephora blue. The Sephora chips in about two minutes, so let’s see how long this stuff lasts! I also bought some glitter nailpolish from Orly, and mebbe I’ll put that on me toes. I don’t presume that anyone reads my blog straight off www.twinkiechan.com….but if you do, there will be a new layout soon so that your eyes won’t explode and you won’t want to kill me every time I post a pic or a video. YAY! Working very hard right now to stock some online boutiques with cute goodies and also update my own shop. Gimme two weeks and some magic will happen!

Bye bye, Uber.com :(…….. Hello, Tony Micelli! :D

So I decided (at least tonight) to move ieatyuckystuff.com to blogger. Short story: it was easier to work with the templates available at the site and I didn’t want to spend hours looking at other custom templates elsewhere. As Hairy likes to say, “That’ll do.” Please check out my first post at yuckystuff via blogger. It’s epic. Hairy and I made meatball cupcakes (cupcake meatballs?) for Guapo’s bday today, and there’s also a bonus “horror short”!! AHAHAHHA. Ice cream trucks and Tony Danza

Poppin’ the Purikura Cherry!

Today, Manda came over and we had brunch at the Pork Store in the Mission. Then, it was off to Japan Center/Japantown to buy a Shojo Beat (um, I guess I bought the wrong one because I didn’t find the ShanaLogic.com ad I was in! Does anyone have a scan of that page by any chance…?) and to try the purikura booth for the first time! It was a rough start, but I think we’ll have a better handle on it next time! We always take too long to do everything! Oops! Once Manda got her self sticking out of the washing machine, for some reason, Hairy and I both wanted to stick our butts in her face.

Scene 360 Interview + Double Strawberry Action!

| 2 Comments on Scene 360 Interview + Double Strawberry Action!

Jenny, one of my friendly and talented customers, also contributes to the art & film site scene360.com. She asked if I’d do an interview and I said of course!!! It’s really beautifully laid out and you can listen to me ramble on an on about stuff. Also I snapped a photo of this kleenex box cozy inspired by a picture of a cake that the baker called a “strawberry basket.” Mine didn’t end up looking as much like a basket of berries, but it is still pretty delectable nonetheless!

Milk N Puppies

| 1 Comment on Milk N Puppies

I just felted a milk carton “Cute-ility Pack.” Those are my felting gloves. I never knew the wonders of dishwashing gloves before I started felting. They protect you from super hot water, and the nubs also provide perfect friction!!! That is the wooden spoon I always use to dry my felted items. I stick the spoon in a jar and throw the fanny pack (opening is on the back on this one) over the spoon so lots of air can get through. It’s to match the chocolate chip cookies stuff I’ve been making. Also I had to try to make this the other night: So, Bibi’s mange is really itchy, so I tried to make her this outfit to keep her from digging her nails into the base of her neck/chin. American Apparel sweater for dogs + a cut up red t-shirt + my horid handsewing skills + Hairy cutting out ear holes = sad Bibi. Tonight I am picking up some old turtle necks from my mom, so hopefully those will work a little better. The “thing” I made keeps falling down her neck because there is no elastic!

This is a scarf I made for my cousin. When we went to visit him in the ‘Couv last fall, we went to a craft fair where we saw $70 knitted neckwarmers/scarflets. Vic wanted one but I told him we could visit a yarn store and that I’d knit him one. He’s in Hong Kong now and probably doesn’t require on in the sweltering heat, but he is a sweetheart and said he was cranking up the air con in his apartment to wear it :). I also just found this: We are fancy doggie parents! The top section was a doggie dinner. Basically Bibi and Bunny eat 1/2 Honest Kitchen dehydrated raw food mix, and 1/2 frozen Nature’s Variety meat mix. Then we’ll switch him any additional goodies. Pictured are raw egg with shell, raw chicken drumstick for Bibi and wing for Bunny, and Hairy threw some parsley on top because Bunny has baby dragon breath!!! On the bottom section, we have our highly organized doggie treats corner. I am a naturally UNorganized person, so I was realy proud of this! Haha. From left to right: grain free doggie treats, dried chicken breast with mint and parsley for breath, bully sticks, and in the smallest container: freeze dried liver treats and freeze dried green trip patties. YUMZ!!!!!

Evolution of the Buttercream Brain

So… Elysse graduated this weekend and I wanted to make her vegan cupcakes. After flipping through the cupcake book, we thought that Brain cupcakes would be a good idea. However, this has been a really busy weekend, and I didn’t think we’d have time to bake, so I decided to try to find vegan cupcakes pre-made, scrape off the decorative frosting, and add the brains. We picked up some Black China Bakery cupcakes via Whole Foods, and while Hairy whipped up the vegan buttercream, I carefully scraped off the yucky German chocolate blobs and raspberry creme dollops. Our buttercream recipe did not end up holding up all that well. Hairy tried refrigerating the frosting first before piping the brains on. The first one slid right off the cupcake! And the later ones started melting again! We stuck them in the freezer over night and then hoped they would look semi okay to give to Elysse. Hairy says of one of the cupcakes, “That looks like lungs.” This is your brain on buttercream.
