Your Daily Snuggle Pic
| Leave a CommentDoggies are SOOOOO cute! I got some shrink plastic in the mail today. I want to make Bibi brooches! Or Bibi medallions. We’ll see. ALso before I got dressed or did my hair, I was running through some possibilities for NYE. This was before I knew that I’d probably have to walk a mile in my NYE outfit in subzero weather to get to the club we are going to in Tahoe. I obviously need to re-think my options. Today I cut some felt out for a custom hoodie. I wanted to take a pic for her before sewing anything on, in case she hates it! Future craft plans: finish some other custom/trade projects, plan a new menu for new and never-seen-before Valentine’s day goodies, work on new t-shirt designs and other surprise stuff with the new Wacom tablet I got for xmas! woo!

| 10 Comments on WIWT, cookies, & pupsMy long-sleeved kitty dress by I’m Your Present! I am trying to be REAAAAAALLY good at not buy anything from her for a bit (or any clothing at the moment)! Today I finished baking up the peppermint swirl cookies. At first I wanted to bring them to my folks’ house on Xmas day, but I ran out of time and the dough has been in the fridge. I finally rolled up the layers and stuck them in the oven! I found the dough not too pliable, even after I left it out to warm for a bit, and everything kept crackling and crumbling!!! So I ended up with a bit of air in my layers, which is sad (holes in cookies!). Also, I didn’t really prefer the flavor. I think I need it sweeter and more pepperminty! Also I’ve never ever worked with nonpareils before AND THEY GET EVERYWHERES!!!!!!! Today I also caught the pups cuddling in front of the space heater. Sorry it’s so dark. Bibi’s face is resting on Bunny for a while until Bibi gets curious and decides to come over and say hi. Aside from baking cookies, I ended up eating a peanut butter brownie and left over stuffing today. I LOVE LEFTOVER STUFFING!!! What is your favorite holiday leftover?

Today, Hairy and I tried to use our Banana Republic gift certs, but we just couldn’t see anything in there that either of us liked. We want to sell them to my brother or his wife. And then go to Urban Outfitters. Hahah. Also, we went to Sports Authority AND Sports Basement to do some research for warm, snow clothes, since we are going to Tahoe for NYE. We didn’t end up buying any snow stuff, but we did come home with a whole box of LUNA bars in our favorite S’mores flavor. 2009 is going to be Year of the Fattie.

| 6 Comments on “You look like Dawn Weiner’s little sister.”I hope everyone had a great Christmas Day! Hairy and I went to my parents’ place. At first they had no electricity for hours, and my mom was cooking turkey down the hill at our old piano teacher’s house! They almost had to move the party to my bro bro’s house, but ultimately the power came back and all was good. We had lots of food and our typical white elephant exchange among family friends! Hairy and I came home with free movie tickets, which we will probably use this weekend, and also, a french press coffee kit (which I will NEVER use, but hopefully Hairy will!). I really enjoyed all the guys ending up with scented soaps or samplers of fancy fruit-scented lotions in tiny jars. One older dude said to a younger dude, joking, “If you first wash with THIS soap (white jasmine) and then put on THOSE lotions, NO GIRL WILL RESIST YOU!” “Aw, mango? Hey, I LOVE mango!” On Xmas Eve, we had a nice dinner with the immediate fam, and then when we got home, I wondered what the most UNchristmassy movie we could watch would be. My first thought was Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, which I do have, but we ended up watching…..MY OLD BALLET VIDEO!!!! From when I was 4-8 years old, my mother forced me to take ballet lessons (and tap, and tumbling, and rhythmic gymnastics). I HATED IT! I hated putting on tights especially. Every year, the studio I took classes at would put on “Twas the Night Before Christmas” for the holidays, so we’d practice and then do several local performances a year. I was different characters in the ballet over the years, and my dad spliced my appearances into one video. Hairy was a trooper and watched the whole thing. I recorded some spots for you. 1) I’m the red bow in the wreath. 2) I’m a shooting star. 3) I’m Little Santa. Enjoy!

| 5 Comments on Today’s WIWT, and some other shopping stuffs.Tonight, Hairy and I joined my mom, dad, and brother for dinner at The Village Pub. Afterward, as is our family tradition, we went back to my parents’ house to open family presents and Jaci joined us, too. I think I will do an xmas prezzie photo round up tomorrow. Tonight, I am still crocheting a present for my mom! Also, I plan to bake two more batches of cookies, except, we ran out of powdered sugar and there is no store open right now!!! Doh!!! Anyway, here is a pic of some stuff I acquired recently (mostly from Disneyland). From left to right: 1) Polka dot fleece throw from a store called Libby Lu in Downtown Disney. I LOVE THIS STORE!!! It’s so pink and princessy and pretentious. It’s every little girl’s pink polka dot dream!! 2) Pop Sugar glitter tank top from Libby Lu. Okay, so this store is for like, little girls, right? So, I’m not really assuming I can fit into any of the clothing, but a grown up can can have pink polka dot dreams, too?! I picked up this awesome tank top for what I thought was going to be $9.99 on sale, but when she rang me up, it was TWO DOLLARS AND NINETY EIGHT CENTS!!! SCORE!!!!!!!!!!! Unscore: I tried it on at home and it’s hideous because it’s boxy/wide and too short. I just can’t pull off the short tops anymore, as my lady-sized muffin tops are quite abundant at the moment…. I suppose it would make for a good gym shirt, if I went to the gym (which I should!!!!). 3) Awesome teddy bear neckwarmer made by Rosaleen Dhu. She makes all kinds of animal scarves, so check out her shop! 4) Alien t-shirt which was a prezzie from Hairy after we got off the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disneyland. It’s also a weird boy sized boxy shirt which I have not dared to try on yet……now that I think about it, I should make a blog post for all my new ill-fitting children’s clothing!!! :/ 5) Awesome pink top from I’m Your Present. The shiny bow is TO DIE. I wore it tonight with my black jumper. Also it kinda perfectly matches my hair color. Also I got a haircut today to mow down some of my hair weeds. When I used to put some styling wax in it, Pickle said it looked like I had twigs growing out of my hair. Man, I miss my twigs! Hope you all have a very safe and warm Xmas! I can’t wait to eat!!!!!

| 9 Comments on Twinkie & Hairy Go To Disneyland!!So on Friday night, Hairy and I drove down to Anaheim to go to Disneyland. We were supposed to meet up with a bunch of peeps in Tacky/Ugly Xmas Sweaters, but due to unforseen circumstances, we ended up being the only ones who went! We still wore out sweaters anyway. Initially I bought a really ugly red knit vest thing to decorate, but then I thought I would be cold in a vest (weather.com predicted 40 degrees in the evening) so I opted instead for a spare hoodie and turned it into a horrible gingerbread house about 15 minutes before we hit the road. I was quite proud of my creation of ugliness (the lady at the churro stand thought it was pretty….heheh), and Hairy said it was even still “cool” because it was American Apparel. This is why we are going to market Ugly Xmas Hoodies for Scenesters next year. HAH. So before we entered Disneyland, we got some breakfy (um, at like 2 pm) at a bakery. This is when we started experimenting with our new camera, which has, SMILE RECOGNITION!!! And then Hairy spilled OJ on his crotchal regions. Here is Hairy doing his Fashionable Male pose in his ugly Xmas cardigan. He fell in love instantly with this gem on eBay while I kept struggling with being able to find something perfectly distasteful. The one thing we ALWAYS do upon first entering the park, is to eat a corn dog from the best corn dog stand EVER!!!!!! (yes, I know we had just eaten breakfy, but we cannot deny the power of the corn dog, plus we share, so it’s not SO bad, right?) Unnecessary close up: I ate that doughy nub! I showed it the business!! But there are no pics of that because I am a lady. Here’s us around Thunder Mountain Railroad. There is actually video of us on the ride, but I seem to have lost all the video files somewhere……ooops. Fast forward to night time: One fun thing we did was take pics in a photo booth that puts different hair on your head. This is Hairy waiting for his magical pics to print out. And then I went, too: Hairy’s turned out REALLLLLLY GOOD!!!! He would make a beautiful bride for some lucky man. I had to coach him a little during the picture-taking process. I was like, “Now you’re MAD! Now you’re DISGUSTED!” Mine turned out lame, because I’m a ree-ree and put my face too close to the camera. After going to Disneyland, we went to Canter’s Deli. Every time I go to a Jewish deli, I order the stuffed cabbage. I

| Leave a CommentSo Hairy and I decided that our Xmas present to each other would be to buy a new point and shoot digital camera. My Olympus D-40 is completely dead and his Sony is also on its last legs. So today we picked up this Sony Cybershot. We basically wanted something compact, so that we’d be more likely to take it with us. I also wanted something with the ability to zoom while shooting video. The dude at Best Buy told us that 1) it had gotten less than stellar reviews for low-light image quality and 2) he didn’t personally prefer the touch screen technology. We were comparing it with some Canon Elph PowerShot. We kept flipping and flopping, and ultimately, I said that we were here to get something really portable and easy to carry around, so we went with the Sony. I need to bang out a Christmas commission tonight in order to ship it by tomorrow, so I can’t take the new camera out of the box to play with it yet! However, I just saw online that the same camera comes in pink….and also lime green!! Uh oh!!! Hmmmm……

I mostly only use photobooth, and sometimes I don’t even have full body shots. WHATEVS!!!! I just got this little dress from ModCloth.com. It is really soft (and will probably get super-pill-y soon) and makes me feel like a cupcake!! As you can see, I have fired up the gas fireplace. It is colds! I also have the space heater on for more direct heat! It’s like 40 degrees out, and I know that is nothing for a lot of you, but I’m a California girl and all I can say is BRRRRRrrrrRRRR!!! Tonight we are going to San Mateo for sushi (yay!), and in totally unrelated news, my bro bro is helping to update my shop page, which means, (hopefully), Zencart and no more having to email back and forth to order. I love chatting with you all via email, but it’s really time consuming making sure to mark everything sold and keep the orders straight. Fingers crossed!! Oh, edited to add this pic: Bibi loves the fireplace, too. Plus you can totally see me sneaking over with my laptop to take that pic in the reflection of the fireplace glass!! AHAH.

| 2 Comments on Meat, Cookies, and Meatcookies. There’s been a wee bit of holiday happenins as of late over here. Last Friday night, Hairy and I went with Oliver & Esther to his mom’s house to decorate gingerbread houses. I haven’t decorated a (real) gingerbread house since I was little, and it was never really a tradition when I was growing up. It was really fun, except that Hairy kept covering EVERYTHING I did with icing! He said it was snow and that it was realistic…. Check out my most triumphant snowman! I can’t believe he stayed upright during a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. Then on Sunday, Hairy and I hosted a white elephant gift exchange, and a “food that looks like other food” potluck. We ate some pretty crazy stuff (and had to supplement with snacks from Trader Joe’s), so you should check it out on ieatyuckystuff.com! For the gift exchange, Hairy made a t-shirt at Bang-On in the Haight: In future holiday happenins: I believe Hairy and I are driving down to Disneyland this weekend to join a group of gals decked out in ugly Christmas sweaters. I still have to make mine! Hairy already bought his! This morning I had to take Bibi to the vet because one of her toes is like twice its normal size. The vet didn’t seem too concerned and gave her some antibiotics and painkillers. She has been sleeping all day. I was able to get myself ready and the dogs out the door in 20 minutes. This is a record for me. I seem to have gotten all my clothes on properly but I did realize later that Bunny’s harness was on upside down……

| 9 Comments on I’m just gonna pick up some yarn…Buttons gingerbread, originally uploaded by TWiNKiE CHAN. Sooo after my sewing date with Manda this morning, I headed back up to the city and stopped by ImagiKnit for some yarn for mittens. I also needed two black buttons for eyes on a brooch, and then I found myself staring and drooling over all the little tubes of colorful buttons. Seriously, kid, candy store, that’s what it was like. I did buy my black buttons and mitten yarn, but I also came away with these gingerbread gems, 10 each! Don’t know what I want to use them for yet, but it seemed an important “investment”! I also got these: They remind me of Swedish Fish! And also these: Yup, Cheez Its!!!! (sorta) I tend to become obsessed with buttons every now and then, which is dangerous, because then I hoard them and never use them!!! Years and years ago I had a set of Ritz cracker buttons, and now I have no idea where they are. SAD!!

Haha. Today I wore a handmade dress by ohladysolo on eBay. I bought two from her! I loved this little Eiffel Tower print and the pretty blue color! The cardigan is from Old Navy, the sweater clips from PeptoGirl, and the necklace from applenoggin on Etsy. I have been working on finishing up a special order. This is one of 3 scarves. I rarely do cupcake scarves with strawberries, so this was a fun break from cherries! And this week I’m focusing on one more shop update for the holidays, and then, onto gifts! More soon!

I haven’t been home much the past few days. Today I hung out with Manda and we actually went to THE MALL. We are not really mallrats, so we thought it was kinda funny. I bought face cream and hair goo, and we went crazy looking at stuff in Betsey Johnson. There was this cute coat on sale, and I was like, “Maybe we can share it.” And Manda said it would be like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Coat! Unfortch, none of the sizes really fit or flattered us perfectly, so the dream is dead. Then we Mexercized and ate fro yo at Yogurtland with Hairy. Tomorrow we are having further adventures: The Academy of Science! I have to remember to ask Hairy to charge his point and shoot so we can document the day! It’s 5am. That means BEDTIME!!!

| 2 Comments on WIWT extravaganza & Giney LuncheonUgh. I know this blog has become a wiwt-fest, but sometimes I feel like my life is too boring otherwise for actual blogging and photos! Here are more entries with no bottoms because I’m just wearing jeans these days. Sparkly pink striped dress: from www.GoJane.com Cardigan: Target Necklace: applenoggin.etsy.com Hair flower: Tarina Tarantino I wore this to go to lunch with my friend Margaret and my mom. We ate yummy greek food at Evvia! We were very loud and talked about marriage and babies and stuff like that, and at some point my mom said the word “vagina” really loudly in public while business people in button-ups and khakis were eating their slovaki and baklavas. Hilarious. It explains a lot about me, I think! Haha! I don’t think about the colors in my outfit being very loud, but Margaret was also in a hot pink track jacket, and my mom came into the restaurant in this adorable and giant white coat with huge polka dots all over it. We must have been quite a sight in relation to the earth tones and navys of most of the other diners. This is from today. I went to Manda’s house in the morning to work on our hoodies, and somehow the rest of the day ran away from me, and I feel really badly that I didn’t get very much work done. Ugh. This is why I end up working until 5am! And I had to get up earlier than usual the past two days so I have been on full-throttle sleep dep. ZZzzzz. Shirt: www.Postlapsaria.com Cardigan: Old Navy Necklace: applenoggin.etsy.com Tonight I hope to wrap up a special order (I really don’t do many of these but she was really nice and has been waiting a LONG time and also she keeps touching base with me WHICH IS KEY!), and this weekend I want to work one more shop update for Xmas. Here’s to hopin! p.s. oooooh I just opened some fun mail! Pics tomorrow.

When I don’t want to get out of bed and feel like I want to be a huge slob and exude COMFORT, my favorite go-to outfit is a dress over pants. I know that in many circles, this is an incredibly UNstyley choice, but I have to admit, it’s a standard of mine, because you get the cuteness of the dress, but the utility of the jeans! So you can’t see the jeans in this pic, but they are there, providing warmth! The dress was a bday gift from Hairy. At first I didn’t thikn I could rock this orange (it’s much brighter than the peach pictured), but it’s growing on me. The dress is exquisite and adorable, and has huge giant pockets! I just bought the little grey hoodie from Becky’s livejournal. I love that when I went to see what size it was, it basically said “13 years old.” Haha, perfect! Dress: www.MyRebe.com Hoodie: Y.d. Necklace: www.KidPirate.com So, the Twinkie Chan-ifesto that I threw together with some of my infamous childlike graphics is going over pretty well, and I’ve been putting together my (rather meager) press. Today I trekked to Joanne’s Fabrics (that place was packed!) to pick up some raw materials for some holiday hoodies that I am going to be working on with Manda starting tomorrow morning. Exciting! I’m also aiming for another shop update next week, so don’t fret, there will be more to buy before Xmas! Oh also, here’s a clip of Bibi being 47 lbs!! WOW!!! She’s a big girl. Also Bibi watching Star Wars. And me trying to coordinate a trip to see Twilight!
