Video: Happy Halloween!
| 5 Comments on Video: Happy Halloween! Here’s the video I made from clips Manda and I took on our iPhones at the pumpkin patch.
My original plan was to get this uploaded to promote my Halloween and pumpkin-themed accessories, but you know, life happens, and I didn’t have time to get to it. It’s a little late now to order your Halloween goodies, yet it’s not quite Halloween, but I’m going to be house-sitting for Halloween without access to my good computer, so here’s the video now! PHEW! I am also having weird issues with iMovie not letting me save my file at full quality, so it’s at medium quality : /. I gotta work on my video quality issues, but I have no idea what I am doing.
Anyway, I hope you think it’s fun! I thought I was going to put together a 30 second video, but I had so much fun remembering our day at the pumpkin patch, that it turned into a 2 minutes video. I chose “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons because I heard it for the first time that day in Manda’s car.
Halloween Costumes! Suzy Bishop & Sam Shakusky from Moonrise Kingdom
/ | 26 Comments on Halloween Costumes! Suzy Bishop & Sam Shakusky from Moonrise KingdomI did not plan to do anything for Halloween this year, but when I got a Facebook invite last Saturday to check out Bad Dads – an art show tribute to the films of Wes Anderson, which was also a costume party with prizes, I told Hairy we were going to do this, and dress up. He is not big on the dressing up, especially in SHORTS, but, I told him, IT WAS HAPPENING. Oddly enough, he didn’t put up much of a fight, and he actually helped make his own costume, and was also oddly in good spirits while wearing it. Win!
(Sorry you can also see my horrible iPhone typing skills.)
WIWT: Pink Heart Ho Down
/ | 7 Comments on WIWT: Pink Heart Ho DownI kind of panicked on this outfit today.
I needed to take a photo in my craft room for another craft-room tour feature on a friend’s blog. But it was one of those days where I threw my hands up in the air over what clothes to put on. You win some, you lose some.
You may recognize the top. It’s the same print as my tote bags, which I am still waiting for Hairy to re-print in pink. I tried out this allegedly slouchy shirt, but it was really small on me and already a size large, so I stopped considering selling these until I find shirts that I like and would wear myself.
I didn’t even end up keeping this outfit on. At least I liked my hair today! Hehe.
Shirt: by me. Shorts: Drop Dead Clothing. Boots: ModCloth. Head band: by me.
I’m starting my planning for Renegade Holiday market. I never know what to bring. People will buy different things all the time at various shows, so it’s hard for me to predict the right inventory. Which means I end up trying to bring everything and stressing out!
We’ve also been working on some last minute Halloween costumes. I haven’t had Halloween plans for years. I got a Facebook invite to an art show opening/Halloween party for Friday night, so we started to frantically plan costumes in less than a week. It’s shaping up rather well, I’d say. Although, I don’t think I’ll be able to try the whole thing on until the day of. Fingers crossed!
Here’s a hint. It will be very obvious to some people, and completely nonsensical to others!
Yep, that’s Hairy in the craft room, getting his craft on. He kept saying he didn’t know what he was doing, and I’m told him to just do it. I’d be a great mom/teacher, right? “Uh, shut up and just DO IT!”
And yep, that’s a contract/release thingie that his patch is sitting on. I hope to announce that news soon!
WIWT: We Match The Pumpkin Patch
/ | 11 Comments on WIWT: We Match The Pumpkin Patch(Hair clips and stripey glove: my Etsy shop, Dress: Katastrophic Design (worn before in my Final Frontier post), Boots: ModCloth, Cardigan: Target)
I haven’t been to a pumpkin patch in years. I kept begging Manda to go with me this year and wear our pumpkin/Halloween gear, and Sunday was the day!
I’m lucky enough to live nearly next door to this pumpkin patch, and it has tons of pumpkins, a bouncy castle, a bouncy slide, and even a little train that departs every 10 minutes. I thought we would kind of hop in and out of there and then go costume shopping, but we ended up spending over an hour picking our most favorite pumpkins, me trying to talk Manda into buying a giant humongous pumpkin, Manda trying to talk me out of carving and sticking my head in said giant pumpkin like the headless horseman.
(I don’t know much about Manda’s outfit except her hat and mitts are from my Etsy shop, and her jacket is Material Girl.)
We got quite the response at the patch and were told we were really prepared!
I came home with one small pumpkin and two baby pumpkins, and Manda bougnt like a kabillion pumpkins (but not the one big giant one!). You will see more of our pumpkin shopping in a short video that I will post soon!
Blogcademy
| 8 Comments on BlogcademyThis week has been a flurry of top secret Yummy You! activity that I hope to be able reveal soon!
In more immediate news, I was really happy to contribute in some small way to the first ever Blogcademy in NYC hosted by Kat from RockNRollBride, Gala Darling, and Nubby Twiglet. It’s happening this weekend, and I totally wish I could be a fly on the wall! I really love how people can come together and make things happen. That’s kind of a lame way to put it, but the making of the things is kind of magical.
Each Blogcademy graduate gets a custom coffee cup cozy crocheted by yours truly included in a bag full of other goodies. At first, I thought I might make cupcake coffee cup cozies, but when Kat asked if I could use the Blogcademy colors, I decided to go a different way completely and create a crochet version of their branding. My work is not really known for being classy, clean, or modern, but I think I did okay and added a bit of cozy grandma-ness to the mix!
(Pic ganked from Blogcademy blog.) I drew most of my inspiration from their button design.
I picture many bloggers out and about in places with coffee/tea and wifi, so I figured a coffee cup cozy would be the most useful item I could provide. I’m excited to see how Blogcademy grows, and maybe one day they will be headed to a city near you!
(For anyone new to my blog, here’s my Q&A at Gala’s blog, and here’s my tutorial at Kat’s blog.)
