JUJU CHAN – GIVEAWAY!!!

EDIT!!!! THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED!!! THANK YOU!!!

OOOooh I have been waiting to announce this!!

My awesome hair stylist Jules Chan has just launched her first hair care product!

It’s the TEXTURE Powder Styler and you can get some at her website here where she also maintains a fun blog about hair.

Her focus is Asian hair, but her knowledge and hair product covers any kind of hair!

I have known Jules forever. When I finally wanted to chop off my life-long long hair in the late 90s, I had no idea where to get my hair cut. My mom used to cut it for me, or hair salons at the mall, and a few times, I even asked my little brother to do it just for fun! But when I wanted to go short, I knew I had to call in the experts!

I was watching E! channel one day and saw a local hair makeover that took place at Architects & Heroes salon in San Francisco (it no longer exists now). I thought the people who worked there looked really “cool” and could give me some “cool” hair (incidentally, the colorist on the show ended up being my colorist for many years until she moved to the UK!), so I called them up and asked for a stylist who knew a lot about Asian hair. And that’s how I met Jules! She was the first person to ever tell me that I had to use product to get the hair that I wanted. This is a blessing and a curse as now I am a hair product ADDICT!! I have followed her from salon to salon, and now she is the founder and co-owner of her own salon, Dekko, which happens to be walking distance from my house! (Altho we’re moving soon, so that is moot, hehehehe.) Here is a recent article in the SF Examiner about her and the salon!

Anyway, Jules is super awesome and has offered to giveaway TWO bottles of her new product to my blog readers, so we can have TWO winners! It comes in a light formula for light colored or fine hair, and a darker formula for darker hair.

To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment in my blog (don’t leave one at Livejournal or Facebook, or else it won’t count!) with your email address and the color and texture of your hair!

To earn an extra chance at winning, either Tweet or re-blog about the giveaway, and post that link in a separate comment here on my blog.

Easy peasy! I’ll select two winners in one week. So you have until Thursday, July 22nd, to enter and spread the word! We’re leaving to drive to San Diego Comic Con that night, so I’ll probably draw around 6pm California Time 🙂

I absolutely could not wait for this product to come out. Since I am rockin’ the bangs these days, my bangs are the first to get oily on my face, although the rest of my hair is not ready to wash (we brightly-colored hair gals shouldn’t be washing our hairz everyday), so now I just sprinkle some of the TEXTURE powder on my hands run it through my bangs, and I have instant de-clumping and de-oiling! Pretty rad!

Jules suggested I use the lighter colored formula since I have pink hair. There is a lot of black in my hair, but the lighter powder still works!

My hair is dark brown but sometimes I change it up adding colors.

    • I LOVE PRODUCT, TOo! It’s always a bummer to buy some new stuff though and find it you wasted money and it didn’t work!

    says:

Aw thats really neat! Um, I dont think it matters if I entered the contest, because i have straight brown hair. but i’ll be real happy to see who wins it!

    • It doesn’t matter if your hair is straight or brown 😛 I guess it just matters if you battle with a bit of oiliness sometimes. Or sometimes there is so much happening that you don’t have time to wash your hair, so you can at least LOOK like you have clean hair! Heheheh.

  • McKayla

    says:

Yays! My hair is dark brown and naturally wavy, and this stuff sounds pretty cool. 😀

    • It is pretty cool! I have yet to play with it as far as creating more texture in my hair, but it works wonders to zap the oil!

  • Great post! Love the pic. :p I need to get me some seriously awesome colored hair!!

  • Suzanne/Scully

    says:

My hair is mermaid hair, blue, teal, pink, purple and thick and horsey like 🙂

I love your hair!! The pink and black looks so cute. :3
I have been dying mine, put some highlights in and some funky dye on top, but it is naturally black and very straight. This texturizing powder sounds perfect- it would solve my over-washing problem, that makes my color fade.

    • It totally felt like it took me a few years to train my head into not being washed every day. Right now I skip 2-3 days and then I absolutely have to wash it. I also need gallons of hairspray to keep my hair fluffy and light, so that stuff needs to come out eventually. Heheheh. But yeah, It would be ideal to not have to wash it for like a week!

  • Hi Twinkie!!! I’d love to enter your contest! My hair is dyed black (no other fun colors…yet) & thick. I’ve been looking for a good powder styling product! My e-mail is cherrystarz@yahoo.com
    Thanks! xo

  • Janine

  • lindsay

    says:

i have coarse dark brown/almost black hair that is super straight!! i also have the ANNOYING oily bangs problem which causes me to overwash.

OT, but since i cut my hair i’ve been having so much fun with curling and styling products!! root booster and hairspray are my new partners in crime 😛

    also, yay sleepy panda! <3

    • sleepy panda forever!!! at first i thought i somehow lost it!!!!

i’ve never tried root booster, does it actually work!?

        • I totally wanna buy that!! I am a TIGI fan!

My headshape is totally why I need big hair….it’s flat on top and I think also in the back!!! Everyone says I have a big head, but really, I have a small head, and BIG FACE.

          • lindsay

            says:

heheheh, i have the same damn head issue!! xD

i was planning on taking some glamour shots of my hairdo this weekend so you’ll be able to see the difference between my old long and limp hair and this new style…it’s virtually impossible to do without that root boost stuff! i recommend 😀 xoxoxo

  • Katie

    says:

Product gets me excessively excited! I would love to try some of this. My hairz are ridiculously oily but when I wash it everyday it falls a bit flat. :/ it’s light brown with some blond highlights and it’s thick but superfine (hence the flatness). My email is doomsday.robot.army@gmail.com! *crosses fingers*

  • San Smith

    says:

super cool – I’d love to try this out!! Sounds way nicer than what I’ve been using 🙂

    • TO be honest, I’ve never bought any other dry shampoo before, so if you win, I’d love to hear a compare/contrast!!

    YAY PRODUCT

my hair is black with a lot of colored chunks on top and underneath so i guess it’s like yours, though my hair texture is fine (but has been described by stylists as fine with a lot of strands?) lol i don’t know!

also you have to put your email in to leave a comment so i hope that’s sufficient 😀

    • Yes, that’s fine! It’s usually easier for me to just read thru the comments and see the email address, but I think I can also find it if I pick through the comments section in my website dashboard 🙂

  • Kate

    says:

My hair is dirty blonde and baby fine, it eats curls…its quite frustrating.

    • Have you ever tried, hairspray, then curling iron, then hair spray again?

      • Kate

        says:

Yah but I don’t like having crispy hair 🙁 So I’m trying to master the pin curl and victory rolls so I can split the work between bobby pins and hairspray.

  • India

    says:

My hair is bright orange. Luckily I was blessed being a natural ginger. As of now my hair is buzzed in the back and longer in the front, and like you I have problems with the oiliness in my bangs. So the product sounds awesome.

  • Jaci

    says:

awesome! i’m a hair stylist so i like to try new things! i’m light blonde and have fine hair! ieatmodestmouse@gmail.com

  • Kiersten

    says:

Well currently my hair is all purple and some black but in a week I’m going fire engine red and who knows where it’ll go after that. So how about I say it’s naturally brown and the consistency is a soft wave.

Haha and just for fun my haircut is less than an inch over my left ear and three inches past shoulders everywhere else. Like a mohawk but on one side.

I’m always looking for something fun to do with it and take care of it. 🙂 And this sounds incredible.

  • mariah

    says:

this is such an awesome give away!

i have dark brown hair that is WaVy!
(i promise to never type like that again, but when i think of the word wavy, that’s what comes to mind!)

  • Steph

    says:

My hair is somewhat coarse and super straight. Awesome because I don’t have to fry my hair to straighten it, but frustrating because it’s so hard to get volume into it.

As for colour it’s that mysterioso Asian hair – Black indoors but send me into the sun and suddenly it’s a chestnut colour. But once I have the money for it I want brightly coloured hair.

I believe that I’ve come to think of you and shrinkle to be my idols as far as hair and crafting go. <3

  • Shavon

    says:

Hey i have bleach blonde hair, i’m about to go light brown and my hair is course. This product looks really cool hope i get it so i can try it out.

  • Nicole

    says:

I would LOVE to own this product, I have dark brown hair and my bangs get so annoying when they get oily. :c
It shows much easier than lighter colored hair people. Baaah!

  • meghan

    says:

I have shoulder length fine brown hair, but a lot of it! I’m currently a devotee of Oscar Blandi’s Pronto (NOT the spray, the regular bottle kind) more because I’m lazy and have damaged ends so less washing is good. When I had a full head of bleached/pink hair I would go anywhere from 3 to 5 days without washing. Once a went a week, but I was CRAZY busy so that was the real reason. Either way I love dry shampoo! An important question: how does this stuff smell? Because Pronto smells really nice, which I think is important if you’re trying to hide the fact you haven’t washed your hair in a few days.

    • Hmmm I never smelled it before. I think it’s pretty odorless!

  • Suzanne B

    says:

woohoo! I have longish dark almost black hair. I’m actually about to chop it off and dye parts of it blue and purple. this would totally help since blue is the hardest color to maintain especially if one washes the hair everyday.

oh and i love your blog and hair!

  • Snugglepot ant

    says:

I have straight brown hair that gets oily easily. When it’s cut short (i.e., anything above my shoulders – it’s too fine to grow longer), I can’t leave the house without putting product in it because it’s so straight I end up looking more like a young boy (it doesn’t help that I’m 5 foot!). Texture and volume are always the way to go for me. I’d never heard of texture powder so I’m intrigued!
