Rainbow Cake Throw Pillow free crochet pattern – Lily Sugar ‘n Cream

Here is the other free crochet pattern I worked up for Sugar ‘n Cream’s “Sweets and Delights” promo at Michaels for their new range of sugary sweet yarn colors: A Rainbow Cake Throw Pillow that uses five of the new colors! The patterns is available at Michaels.com, and I will also post it here on my blog.

L-SnC-CakeIn case you were curious, here is the sample I worked up at home while figuring out the pattern. I didn’t have the purple color (Sherbet) on hand, so I repeated the pink (Strawberry Shortcake). The purple looks really pretty, though, so I can’t wait to find some in the store!

I love your patterns! Im working on the cake pillow right now for my niece. I don’t understand how to make the frosting puffs. I made the parallelogram but i don’t get how to turn it into the puff. Can you please help?

      says:

You sew the short ends of the parallelogram together to join the ends and make short tube or a bracelet-like thing. Then you take your yarn and weave it around one of the openings, and pull tight, to draw the opening closed. You will also start to see the swirl coming together. Then you tie this off for security. Then you you have to do the same thing to the other opening, so you just poke your needle (with yarn still threaded through) through the center of the swirl you just made so you can get to the other opening. THen weave your yarn around the opening again, pull tight, and draw the opening closed. I don’t know if that helps or not, but it probably helps to do the steps while you follow them, instead of just reading them and going, “hunh?” Hehe 🙂
