Ladies Weekend

A couple months ago, my brother asked if I’d be interested in seeing part of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastic Trials in San Jose.  I said sure! As it turned out,  I went with my mom, Manda, my sister in law, and her mom, so it was a ladies gymnastics weekend.

I am one of those people who love to watch gymnastics in the summer and figure skating in the winter, so it was really neat to be there, watching it all happen!

My mom is super funny and will point out which boy gymnasts she thinks are cute or handsome. Unfortunately, none of her cute or handsome favorites made the team!

I didn’t really take many photos or videos, as I’m sure you can find that online or on TV.

I haven’t been keeping up with gymnastics at all, so this was a great way to get acquainted with the names and the faces and make watching the Olympics more fun!

At one point, while we were waiting for them figure out who was going to be on the ladies gymnastics team, the crowd started doing the wave.

When you were younger, did you ever dream of being in the Olympics? If so, in what sport? There was a moment in time that I wanted to be on the equestrian team, since I used to ride horses up until I went to college. So that’s definitely one of the reasons why I’m glad that NBC is livestreaming all the events. The equestrian events don’t often get a lot of coverage on regular TV. Longtime blog readers (LJ!) will recall that I was lucky enough for my Taiwanese friend to hook me up with tickets for the 2008 equestrian events in Hong Kong!

I always wanted to do archery but only because I am awful at sports and it seemed like I’d have a shot at getting into the Olympics with archery as compared to anything athletic!

I never watched any archery events before!! Have you ever actually tried archery? I have a feeling I would be really bad at it and have terrible aim heheheh.

I did it at a school camp once and loved it, and then recently at a carnival which was hopeless BUT I remembered how much I loved it so am keen to actually take it up properly. It seems like such a useful skill should I survive some sort of zombie apocalypse 🙂

I was heavily into gymnastics when I was younger! I had these huge dreams of wanting to go to the Olympics (I also had plenty of drawings of my aspirations) and worked really hard to make that a reality. I got to compete in a few competitions and won silver and gold all around medals 😀

I did a lot of ballet/tap/tumbling when I was little, and a bit of rhythmic gymnastics, but once I saw the horsies, I started to do only that!
