Old friends and new houses.

My highschool bestie is in town from Houston with her hubby, and my mom and I went to the new house with them. My friend studied interior design in school, so I wanted her opinion on colors for all the rooms on the main floor.

When I went looking at fabric with Manda the other day for this fashion art project we are working on together, I found the above fabric and fell in love with it!!! (It is totally different than the art project, btw!)Β  I am now using this as color inspiration for the new house. It may not be what I had originally imagined, but I think it will work. There are a lot of elements I have to work around, leading to some compromise here and there, but overall, I have my fingers crossed it will turn out cute.

I really just want to move in and skip the part where we have to paint every room and every baseboard, and pack up our loft, and set all our stuff up again!

Right now, I am mentally frenzied with prepping for Renegade Craft Fair, as well as the outfit for the Sweet Streets II art show in L.A. that Manda and I are collabing on….plus I have to design a few more things for the next Yummy You catalog, all this month! Plus we are going to Comic Con in San Diego for a day as well as Disneyland after that. There’s a lot going on, but truthfully, I probably wouldn’t have it any other way!

Hey! I read in your FAQs that you don’t sell your patterns, but do you have a Ravelry account? I love to see what patterns people use and what projects they’re working on. πŸ™‚ If you’re on the site, add me as a friend! http://www.ravelry.com/people/bethkemper

Oh my, I feel for you… We moved into our house 3 years ago, and I’ve still only painted two rooms!!

My laziness means I’m stuck with a lot of really ugly wallpaper. πŸ˜›

    • We are really pushing ourselves to paint everything before we move the furniture in!!! It’s so much pressure, though, to choose all the “right” colors. Already had to re-adjust the ceiling color!

  • That fabric is full of win! Can’t wait to see how you use the colours. I am still too far away from getting to decorate. Have fun with it πŸ™‚

    • Thanks! i still haven’t gone back to the store to get more of that fabric than the tiny scrap I photographed!! Heeh.

so….what did the interior designer have to say about the colors? I love them- it looks like candy!! My bestie is an interior designer and has to work with my whimsical kid style all the time. i NEVER want a grown up house!! Can’t wait to see some pics of your new home!!
    book?? when?? amazon?? do tell…

    • She helped pick them out, so I think she is cool with them :). She actually wanted to get super crazy in the kitchen, but I had to talk her down from that. Hehehe.

The book is already available on amazon for pre-order but does not actually ship until November when it’s officially out :). I posted about it in an earlier blog post!
