Um, I bought a hula hoop!

Froot Hoop

A lot of cute girls on Insta like TinyTangerines have been posting their adorable hula hooping videos lately! I would not have felt compelled to join this club, except my buddy from SuperGood also mentions hooping while watching tv, which seems to me a nice, mindless, easy way to sneak in a tiny bit of exercise without a lot of fuss (I don’t think I will try to learn tricks or fancy things).

My buddy told me that hula hoops arrive in a somewhat surprising way, i.e. not in a shipping box, so I told her I would make a short vlog about getting, unwrapping, and using my hoop for the first time. Here’s the video!

I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time to use it aside from the 10 seconds I did in the video….but I have hope for me! 😛

I was going to say the hoop is too small!

They do make small ones for your arms! Hehe

It’s so cute! I checked out the etsy and found one that I am in LOVE with! I tried to hoola hoop a few years ago and didn’t stay with it but maybe I would be more motivated with a pretty, sparkly, orange one!

I’m definitely hoping that the sparkles help!! 😉

You make my day with your colourful kookiness! I have never heard of a “collapsible hula hoop”!? Wow. I know what you mean about not having time to fit in exercise. I tend to do squats, leg lifts even star jumps while I’m cooking dinner. My family think I’m kooky, but after spending all day at a desk, I need to move about before I get to sit down and crochet something cute! And your patterns are my favourite to make! xoxoxo

My mom does this thing where she punches from room to room. We always thought it was silly, but now I do it too! hHAha

  • Haha I bought one to do the same thing! I’ve hooped to one episode of New Girl. I joined a hooping FB group where they all do fancy tricks, but I’m not sure I’ll get to that level. Love your colorful hoop!

Yeah I’m not sure that I really have much desire to learn the fancy tricks, but I guess we will see what happens!!! I kinda just grab it every now and again and mess with it until I’m bored (which is kind of quickly), but life is a bit busy/stressful at the moment, so I kinda just look at it as useful home decor right now HAHAHH.

Twinkie – Where did you … nevermind. Just heard in the video – hoopmamas.etsy.com. Totes buying one right now. I need the exercise!!!

Ah I have that shirt, I go to tell everyone the joke but Lisa Frank wasn’t big (or perhaps unknown) in Australia so after I explain it I get met with blank stares and awkward smiles . I want to be good at hulla hopping but I honestly can’t even do one rotation though after watching your video now I’m thinking I need a heavy hoop! Or maybe that’s me trying to justify why I sucked those other times 😛 Love the rainbow stripes!

Wow. You did so much better than my last attempt at hula hooping. Something to think about… hooping at night in front of the tv.

I soooo want a hula hoop now!! Just gotta measure to figure out what size. What weight did you get??
    You have the best ideas!!

    • Twinkie Chan!

      says:

      I got HOOP SIZE: 40
      TUBING: 3/4″ 160PSI HEAVY

You are supposed to measure an inch or two above your belly button, I think. I went slightly under that measurement for no particular reason!

        says:

Awesome!! I wasn’t sure on the weight!! Thanks a bunch! I wonder if I could crochet and hula hoop at the same time?? LOL yarn and my couch are my biggest exercise challenges (ok and heaps of laziness!!)

This was so fun!! I’ve definitely been wanting to get a hoop thanks to Tiny Tangerines too. May have to join the club soon. 🙂

  • Im so in love with this! ^-^ Asheville’s downtown in the summer everyone brings out their hula hoops and at the skating rink to! I should get a new candy striped one!

I was always super fail when it came to doing it on my waist. I do it on my arms though pretty well but with my kiddo around it would be a bit of a disaster.
