The #YarnHeroes has its own site now, YarnHeroes.com! Check it out! I think it’s pretty cool if will be year-round movement! Here’s a link to my original post about the Yarn Heroes and our mission to help you crochet for charity. You can also find my pattern for Candy Cane Wristwarmers. Below you’ll find a pattern for some cute and easy puffy crocheted bows that you can turn into hair accessories, corsages, belts, Christmas tree decorations, wreath decorations, shoe clips, purse-pins, pretty much anything and everything! I originally designed these bows to make shoe clips for a Bee and Puppycat outfit, but they are really great for holidaytimes, too. You can create a cute embellishment for a wide range of your charitable crocheting, and you can also make the bows themselves for charities such as BowDazzling. So far, Bow Dazzling has delivered over 29,000 bows and headbands to children’s hospitals. Pretty amazing!
AND NOW: Giveaway info! Lion Brand will send TWO winners each 2 balls of yarn of your choice (PLUS a pack of Lion Brand BonBons) to make your own pair of Candy Cane Wristwarmers and a bow or two. I made my wristwarmers with Kitchen Cotton in Bubblegum and Hot Pepper, but each winner can choose whatever Lion Brand yarn and colors you like. I think Vanna’s Choice would also be perfect! My green bow is made with Bonbons, and the white one is Vanna’s Glamour.

Notes
- I prefer the right side of the work to appear on the outside of the project.
- You can crochet a bow basically by making one rectangle as the main body of the bow and then a smaller rectangle to bind the center of it together. In this pattern, we will crochet in the round so that our bow is double-thick, PLUS, we’ll be using decreasing and increasing to give our bow a nice, fancy shape.
Main Part of Bow
Ch 44 and sl st to 1st ch to form ring, making sure there is no twist in the chain.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 and work 44 hdc evenly around. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (44 sts)For the remainder of the Main Part of Bow, work the first hdc of the next rnd in the same st as your ch 2 (or the joining sl st from the prev rnd).
Rnd 2: Ch 2. 8 hdc evenly, inv hdc dec 3 times, 16 hdc evenly, inv hdc dec 3 times, 8 hdc evenly. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (38 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 2. 6 hdc evenly, inv hdc dec 3 times, 14 hdc evenly, inv hdc dec 3 times, 6 hdc evenly. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (32 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 2. 4 hdc evenly, inv hdc dec 3 times, 12 hdc evenly, inv hdc dec 3 times, 4 hdc evenly. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (26 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 2. 4 hdc evenly, (2 hdc) 3 times, 12 hdc evenly, (2 hdc) 3 times, 4 hdc evenly. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (32 sts)
Rnd 6: Ch 2. 6 hdc evenly, (2 hdc) 3 times, 14 hdc evenly, (2 hdc) 3 times, 6 hdc evenly. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (38 sts)
Rnd 7: Ch 2. 8 hdc evenly, (2 hdc) 3 times, 16 hdc evenly, (2 hdc) 3 times, 8 hdc evenly. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (44 sts)
Rnd 8: Ch 2. Hdc evenly around. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (44 sts) Break off and weave in ends.
The seam will be the center back of your bow.
Center Band
Ch 14. Sk 1st ch and work 12 sc evenly across. In the last ch, work 3 sc. Working on the other side of your foundation chain, work 12 sc evenly across. Break off leaving 12 inches of yarn for sewing. Weave in other end.
Assembly
1. Consider securing the shape of your bow first by pinching the center and running a threaded tapestry needle through the center a few times, making sure everything looks symmetrical. This way, the Main Part won’t move around while you sew on the Center Band.
2. Wrap the Center Band around the middle of the Main Part and sew the ends of the Center Band together at the back of the bow (where all the seams are). Tie off and weave in ends.
