What my 39th Bday Looked Like…!

Since I was obsessed with finishing my crochet book, my blog-life sort of took a back seat. I never showed you guys some snippets from my birthday back in August! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw most of these already, but I figured I’d write a good ol’ blog entry for them.

First up, my brother and I usually have a shared bbq at my parents’ house, since he’s a late-July baby and I’m an early-August baby. Guapo visited from San Diego for the weekend and also hooked us up with a giant chocolate donut from Bob’s.

As is typical for the three of us, we ended up doing a lot of sitting around, watching bad TV (we watched the TV series Salem and also rented The Duff), and EATINGGGG. This is what Renee’s counter looked like on the first night.

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 5.08.22 PMWe took these donuts and some other snacks to hang out at the beach. I really like the IDEA of hanging out at the beach, then you go and it’s super hot, and your skin is burning, and there’s sand everywhere… I dunno. I’ll keep trying, but, I’m not going to ever pretend that I’m an outdoors type.

This is what I wore (except, I actually wore white sandals to the beach… and put on regular shoes for the drive home) because I haven’t worn a bathing suit since … I literally cannot even remember. And yes, I brought crocheting along, too.

Renee and I used to be roommates over 10 years ago. At some point during that time, Manda lived with us, too.  Somewhere in there, I made this weird 3-eyed duck(?) plushie for one of Renee’s presents. It was funny to see it again, and to have it watching me at night…  I do not even understand this present, because it’s not like Renee makes a big deal about ducks being her favorite animal or anything. It’s just the ultimate in random.

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 5.16.30 PMOverall, my birthday was very mellow and old-people style, but I got to see most of my favorite people, so that is what’s most important!

I turn 4o next year, and I feel the pressure to plan something super exciting, or, at least, super different! Do you plan anything crazy for landmark birthdays?

Aw thanks! I can hardly ever believe it, either. Like, I go to a bar and think about how I could be everyone’s teen mom.

Happy belated birthday! I think how you spent your birthday is the best way to spend it! With friends and family and plenty of food!!!

I like these sort of birthdays, it doesn’t make sense to go all out for a non-event b’day and save up the celebrations for the big ones. You have to thinkof a super cool theme for your 40th!

Happy belated birthday, I honestly think casual birthdays with friends, family and FOOD are the best way to celebrate I didn’t do anything major for my last birthday we just went for ice cream with the dog lol but it was such a fun little outing, maybe you should go on an epic vacation for your 40th?

is it a duck? it makes me think of a duck/turkey hybrid with the red bead gobble gobble hanging below the beck.

      says:

Yeah the beads make me think that it’s actually a CHICKEN.

  • No way do you look 39!
I turned 33 this year and I don’t feel it one bit.
Pretty much everyone I went to school with has at least one kid, a cat is enough for me!
    Age is just a number!
